Amy Poehler is ready to get in charge of an archaeological excavation, and we’re intrigued by what she’s digging up! Peacock has released the official trailer for DIG, a new comedy that takes a team of archaeologists to Greece, where one discovery will change their lives. Ready?
Here we go!
DIG’s Trailer Turns an Archaeological Discovery Into a Conspiracy
In the trailer we meet Elise, an experienced archaeologist whose professional ambitions have been held back by Neville, the celebrated British professor leading the excavation. Neville calls himself the face of the project, and even when retirement seems to be on the table, he finds a reason to stick around for another year. For Elise, that’s a problem. She has spent a long time hoping to take charge of the dig, and she finally gets an opportunity to change her circumstances.
The catch? It comes in the form of a rare artifact that could rewrite what we know about the past. When Elise and her colleague Dylan uncover something extraordinary, they realize that reporting the discovery could mean handing Neville yet another reason to take the credit. So, they make a decision that could cost them far more than their professional reputations.
Elise has worked hard to get where she is, and the trailer makes it clear that she isn’t willing to let another opportunity slip through her fingers. Her decision isn’t the smartest one, but we can understand it. Elise wants recognition for her work, while Neville seems comfortable being the person in charge…who doesn’t lift a finger. So we’re rooting for Elise!
Of course, keeping a potentially priceless discovery under wraps isn’t easy. There’re people watching them, dangerous encounters, and plenty of questionable decisions along the way. So one moment, Elise and her colleagues are dealing with a find that could change their lives, the next, they’re trying to work out how to survive the consequences of their own choices.
The other highlight is the group of women at the center of the adventure in DIG. Alongside Elise and Dylan, we meet Clare and Patty, who appear to have very different personalities. Clare is quick to notice that someone is following them, while Dylan seems rather taken with the intrigue surrounding their discovery. So this team won’t always agree on how to handle the situation, which should give the comedy plenty of room to grow.
And we wouldn’t have it any other way. Four women with different priorities, a potentially life-changing discovery, and a conspiracy that keeps getting more dangerous? TAKE OUR MONEY NOW!
DIG premieres November 23 on Peacock, with all 10 episodes available to stream on the same day.
