Oscar-winning actress, Brie Larson has been cast as Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel in the upcoming Marvel film, as officially announced at the San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) yesterday.
The Room actress received a standing ovation when her casting was announced by Marvel Studios during their panel in Hall H.

Brie Larson will make her first official appearance as Carol in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War and then go on to headline her own film in 2019.
In the comics, Carol Danvers is a pilot who after an accident has her DNA infused with an alien’s resulting in powers of flight and strength.

Captain Marvel will be written by Guardians of the Galaxy’s Nicole Perlman and Inside Out’s Meg LeFauve and no director has been attached yet.
