Just one week after Hulu released the first two episodes of The Handmaid’s Tale Season 2, the streaming network ordered a third season for the award-winning series.
Season 2 extends beyond the material covered in the book The Handmaid’s Tale, upon which the series is based. Author Margaret Atwood continues to take part in the series’ creation, so Hulu is smartly confident that there is much more story to be told.
The real world is grappling with women’s rights issues, including the #MeToo movement and calls for inclusion riders in entertainment contracts. The political landscape in the United States is frequently compared to the dystopian universe detailed in The Handmaid’s Tale.
Two seasons would certainly not be sufficient to explore and portray the incredibly timely issues on the show.
Elisabeth Moss, Alexis Bledel, Ann Dowd and the show’s creative team gathered many top awards, including Emmys and a Peabody, for the captivating and raw drama. Season 2 was released in time to be considered for this year’s Emmys, and it is sure to continue to earn nominations.
The first three episodes are drop-dead gorgeous. Hulu is gaining a vote of confidence from viewers and fans by wasting no time in picking up another season of the show. There is truly no reason to stall when the show is of high a caliber as The Handmaid’s Tale.
The Handmaid’s Tale is streaming on Hulu, with new episodes every Wednesday.
