EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Madison Taylor Baez from ‘Selena: The Series’

It’s hard to take on an icon like Selena Quintanilla. They’re big shoes to step into and a worldwide audience that still love Selena, even after her passing, are alive and well. But maybe because of all of that, because she’s a star like no other, that we’re so excited and thrilled to learn that Netflix is taken on the challenge of producing Selena: The Series.

We got a chance to speak with Madison Taylor Baez, who plays young Selena on Selena: The Series. And let us tell you, there’s no better actress to take on this role. From her passion of getting young people like her to known Selena, to her love for the songs, there’s plenty to love about this rising young actress.

1. How was it stepping into young Selena’s shoes?

It was amazing stepping into young Selena’s shoes. Just being able to be one of my idols was amazing. And just being able to live all the moments in her life, was awesome.

2. What did you do to get ready for the role?

Well I had to learn a little Texas accent and I had sing all of her songs. And I got to sing in English and in Spanish, which is really cool.

3. Was there a favorite song that you loved learning?

I think it was “Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue.”

4. How was it working with Christian Serratos?

Well, I really just worked with her on the promo but she was really really fun. She was really nice and we hung out in our dressing rooms during the promo. And it was really fun working with her. She was really nice and she was amazing in the costume.

5. So far, what’s been your favorite thing about the whole experience?

I love the acting and the singing. I really can’t choose. I love the acting, being able to live the moments in her life. And I really love the singing too. I got to learn all of her songs that she sang when she was little. I even got to sing in Spanish and I’ve never done that but it turned out to be something I really really loved. `

6. What do you hope viewers take away from Selena: The Series?

Well I hope that I can give and inspire children to get them to know who Selena is and discover her music because she’s amazing and I love all her music.

Selena: The Series is set to release sometime this 2020.
