We love a Cassandra Clare book
We love a beautiful book cover.
Cassandra Clare just came out with Chain of Gold which has one of the most beautiful book covers ever.
But as usual she manages to follow it up with something equally as beautiful.
Cassandra Clare shared the cover to book 2 of The Eldest Curses Trilogy, The Lost Book of the White, on the Shadowhunter Army newsletter, and it is STUNNING.

Cassie also posted the cover on her Instagram and said, “Cover reveal! Lost Book of the White, coming September 1! Main pic: Magnus looking styling in guyliner amid the bustle of Shanghai. It was fun to visit a new destination! Now here is how it works as far as I know: these jackets will be reverse printed. The first picture is the outside/main dust jacket while the Anne Lambelet art that matches the original cover of Red Scrolls is on the reverse side of the dust jacket — swipe left to see it. So if you want matching hardbacks, you can have those by flipping the jacket over. I know it’s always annoying when cover designs change in the middle of series, but these sorts of decisions are publisher decisions, not author decisions. I’m glad they’re offering both options for the cover to ease the transition. And I think they’re both gorgeous!”
If you aren’t familiar with the book, here’s the synopsis –
Magnus Bane and Alec Lightwood are settling into domestic life with their son Max when the warlocks Ragnor Fell and Shinyun Jung break into their loft and steal a powerful spell book. Realizing that Ragnor and Shinyun are being controlled by a more sinister force, Magnus and Alec set out to stop them and recover the book before they can cause any more harm. With the help of Clary Fairchild, Jace Herondale, Isabelle Lightwood, and Simon Lovelace (who is fresh from the Shadowhunter Academy), they track the warlocks to Shanghai.
But nothing is as it seems. Ragnor and Shinyun are working at the behest of a Greater Demon. Their goal is to open a Portal from the demon realms to Earth, flooding the city of Shanghai with dangerous demons. When a violent encounter causes Magnus’s magic to grow increasingly unstable, Alec and Magnus rally their friends to strike at the heart of the demon’s power. But what they find there is far stranger and more nefarious than they ever could have expected…
The Lost Book of the White will be out September 1, 2020.
