One of the few new shows coming in October is NBC’s Connecting, ” an ensemble comedy about a group of friends trying to stay close (and sane) through video chats as they share the highs and lows of these extraordinary times.” Which, if we’re being honest, sounds both like something we need and something we don’t want.
I still remember how uncomfortable Love in the Time of Corona was, after all.
But there’s also a part of me that’s like: we’re not escaping the coronavirus, and we’re not escaping TV created about it, so if they’re going to do something, I’d rather have a heartfelt, diverse friendship-focused comedy than watch the myriad of medical-dramas who are going to try to solve an unsolvable problem.
Or is that just me?
Connecting... stars Otmara Marrero, Parvesh Cheena, Shakina Nayfack, Preacher Lawson, Ely Henry, Jill Knox and Keith Powell. Martin Gero and Brendan Gall write and executive produce. The series is produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group.
We’re still trying to decide how we feel about it, but in the meantime, you can form your own opinion by looking at the trailer:
