Being a millennial in a pandemic means we want to buy the things but realize that eating and rent are more important than buying the latest gimmick or console. But there comes a time, a moment, where things change and you buy something not only because it looks like fun, but also because your mental health needs a little boost. Why not a little adventure, puzzles, and fun on the Nintendo Switch? Join us as we explore what made us buy a Nintendo Switch and why you should too!
1. Resistance
Just because everyone else has it doesn’t mean we have to get it too. We don’t fall for peer pressure. We resist! WE RISE! And we aren’t like everyone else with their Animal Crossing and Mario Party. *insert scoff here* A little pretentious? Yes. Do we regret it? No.
2. Curiosity
*peeks over at the Millennials having fun of their Nintendo Switches* Hey, we wanna have fun too! *huff and crosses arms* Does it have to be on a Nintendo Switch? Also, what’s this cool game over here called Ori and the Blind Forest. Oh that’s really cute and looks like it would make us cry!
3. Research
It’s not going to hurt anyone if we do a little research right? So there are two kinds of Nintendo Switch, a lite one for individuals and one that can be shared amongst friends. We have friends, but we’re living in a world with a pandemic. There’s going to be no meeting of friends. But I’m just thinking about getting one. Nothing wrong with thinking it…
4. Giving In
We did it. We bought it. And if we’re gonna do this thing then we’re going to do it right! Screen protector? Check! Nintendo Switch skin? Check! Case? Check! Nintendo Online membership with our credit card? Double check! Regrets? Some. But others were having fun and if there’s anything millennials hate it’s fomo.
5. Obsession
Not even a day in and we’re already 4 games in, scrolling through the Nintendo shop for other games that match our aesthetic and abilities. Who were we when we were resisting? Why did we wait so long? And dear God, this is helping with my anxiety so much. We’re gonna bask in the joy and hope others join us on this exact journey.
