It’s a little sad to be living in a world where we can, probably pretty accurately, look at a celebrity apologizing for something and go, oh, okay, seems like they meant it. Justin Timberlake’s apology to Britney Spears and Janet Jackson? Eh …I mean, I guess the words are good, he clearly got a good PR team and lawyer to write them for him. But the sentiment behind them? Sorry, but you’re gonna have to do more for us to believe you.
Not just because Janet and Britney deserved an apology ages ago, and he only did it now, when the backlash was threatening his career, also because he’s been confronted with this very idea multiples times before and he always acted like he had nothing to apologize for.
Also, serious question, the Allen vs. Farrow documentary is coming out in two weeks. Is Justin going to release another apology note THEN for his role in supporting Woody Allen? Or does that not get an apology note? Does he think this blanket statement applies to everything he’s ever done wrong?
You can find his pretty decently apology that I don’t believe a word of below:
Sure, this might be how Justin honestly feels, but if it is …well, he needs to put his actions and money where his mouth is. In the meantime, I will just continue to believe he is the mean he’s proven himself to be, instead of the man he’s pretending to be in a notes app apology that it’s not even my place to accept, anyway.
