Batwoman‘s “Fair Skin, Blue Eyes” saw unexpected team ups, the past coming to haunt those we love, and Ryan moving in with Mary. The latter being the cutest part because Mary and Ryan are on the road to being BFF’s. Also, it gives us an opportunity to see two distinctly different women bond while one is mourning Kate Kane’s death and the other is taking on the mantle of Batwoman. Complicated, yet fun, is going to be the name of the game with these two.
As for unexpected team ups, I did not see Sophie and Alice working together. I should’ve because it was staring at me right in the face. But I just brushed it off as something that wouldn’t happen because Sophie would never. And part of me was right. Sophie would never…but she still ended up working with Alice. She just didn’t give Alice all the information and Alice knew it. So much for, “Team work, makes the dream work.” and all that jazz!
Luke inadvertently falling into the mix and helping is going to cause some major drama with Mary. I can feel it. Because as much as everyone wants Kate back, Alice killed Mary’s mom. There’s no forgiving or understanding that. There never will be. And I mean, he could say he was under duress. There was a gun pointed at him after all. But I still think it’s going to cause a bit of a rift between two people who care for each other but are on opposite ends of what they want to do about Kate’s disappearance.
Hopefully it’ll all be balanced out by the bond growing between Mary and Ryan. They get each other and my little shipper heart can’t help but want to ship them. Mary is always so kind and attentive. And Ryan opens up to her in a manner we all know she’s never done with anyone else; even her ex-girlfriend. Which, that last bit is going to cause some problems for sure. Problems being, Ryan wanting to tell someone that she’s Batwoman.
I mean, there’s nothing wrong with sharing bits and pieces of your life with your loved ones. But you haven’t spoken to this life-long partner of yours in 2 years. The rift that formed had to be huge and I fear that Ryan will wave it away because she wants someone to understand her so desperately. And what better person to understand her than someone who has known her all her life?
Batwoman airs Sundays at 8/7c on The CW.
