Kevin isn’t the only one that can fuck himself on Kevin Can F**k Himself. Seriously, I’m heated after watching “Broken,” the penultimate episode of season one. All the men can go fuck themselves, starting with Sam. Who the hell does he think is calling Allison “broken.” She made a decision, a choice for herself, and he should respect that. But no, he didn’t like that she was assertive and went as far trying to gaslight her. And it fucking worked because Allison has genuine feelings for him but is on a mission to kill her husband.
You know who can also fuck themselves? Neil. He needs to mind his own business and stop getting into everyone’s business. He’s clearly insecure about his position in life when it comes to his relationship with Kevin. And he has no one else. So at the sign of Kevin choosing someone else before him, he clamps on and starts on a guilt train as if he’s more important than the person Kevin married. And honestly, Neil’s love for Kevin is a little intense to the point where I think he’s IN love with Kevin.
Oh, and then there’s Kevin. That arrogant asshole. He didn’t want kids because it would take the attention from him. Cue the selfishness that we know when it comes to him on Kevin Can F**k Himself. And when he found out that Allison had visited a fertility clinic he automatically got that look on his face that said, “I find joy in cornering my wife.” And I hate it with the passion of a thousand suns. His decision to have a baby with Allison was his alone when it really shouldn’t be.
Why? Because it’s Allison’s body. She chooses what happens to it or if there’s going to be a baby inside of her. And the fact that Kevin doesn’t see that or even contemplate how his choice to have a baby affects Allison shows how little he cares about her. It’s always about his image, his choices, and how he comes first. Well, that’s not how it goes when it comes to pregnancy; a dangerous line that makes me want to jump through the screen, help Allison pack her bags, and get the hell out of there.
But Allison has to the one to make this choice. And she’s almost there in Kevin Can F**k Himself. Sure, Sam’s comments sent her on a spiral that she wasn’t ready for. But she was dealing with a lot of pressure and sometimes comments like that from people we trust, like, or love, really hit us hard. But Allison survived “Broken” like she always does. Because those around her, they underestimate what she can do and the lengths she’s willing to go to set herself free.
The only person that understands Allison in Kevin Can F**k Himself is Patty. And I truly can’t believe we’ve gotten to the point where Allison and Patty are friends, because of their past, but here we are in “Broken.” Them sharing space together meant something. It meant, “I can be vulnerable around you. I can open up and know you got my back. You’re my person.” It’s due to the friendship they have cultivated with each other over these last couple of episodes.
And if this is what Allison and Patty can accomplish, when it comes to their bond, in such a short time, then I can’t imagine what the future holds for them. I don’t think it’ll turn romantic, even though Patty is exploring her feelings for a woman in the form of Tammy. Women can be friends with other women without developing romantic feelings. I know, I blew your mind. But it’s true.
Which, go Patty and Tammy! At first I thought it was to help our Allison and herself. But it’s become clear that Patty likes Tammy in a way she’s never felt for someone else. And when an opportunity like that crosses your path, you don’t let it go. You hold on and try. That’s what Patty is doing with Tammy. That’s what Allison is doing, when it comes to taking down her husband. And together, they’re going to set Kevin Can F**k Himself on fire and give us something brand new as season one wraps up.
Kevin Can F**k Himself airs Sundays at 9/8c on AMC.
