We’ve got some truly mixed feelings about this one. Showtime has released a trailer for it’s Dexter continuation series, Dexter: New Blood and we’re just not sure. I mean, reboots and revivals are always complicated, because they carry so many expectations with them. But this one is just …weird. We didn’t really like the ending, so there’s a part of us that’s all like anything has to be better than that and yet, there’s another part that’s actively wondering if they could make it worse.
Plus, we still don’t really know what’s going on. And the Comic-Con @Home panel didn’t really give us all that many answers. Instead, it just gave us information, and more questions. Maybe what we need is a refresher of the original show, because it’s been a while. This is probably what Showtime would want, because hoping to lure new viewers in they have made the first three episodes of the show available for free on YouTube and Showtime.com. All previous seasons of the show are, of course, available to subscribers.
Here’s the description for the revival:
Set 10 years after Dexter went missing in the eye of Hurricane Laura, the series finds him living under an assumed name in the small town of Iron Lake, New York. Dexter may be embracing his new life, but in the wake of unexpected events in this close-knit community, his Dark Passenger beckons. Joining Hall, the cast also includes Julia Jones (The Mandalorian), Alano Miller (Sylvie’s Love), Johnny Sequoyah (Believe), Jack Alcott (THE GOOD LORD BIRD) and Clancy Brown (The Crown, BILLIONS). Reuniting Hall with original series showrunner Clyde Phillips, DEXTER: NEW BLOOD is currently in production on 10 one-hour episodes in Western Massachusetts.
