Spooky season is upon us! And Legacies is the perfect show to add to your must-watch list to get you in the spirit. The first trailer for Season 4 teases an even darker side of the Salvatore School. This change unlocks a whole lot of potential for this upcoming season to be a nice change of pace from the last one.
This shift in tone isn’t entirely off base considering its predecessors. Death has never been a foreign concept to the characters of The Vampire Diaries Universe. It’s basically unavoidable on these shows. Many of the key Legacies characters are still reeling from the aftermath of the loss from TVD and The Originals.

More specifically, Hope Mikaelson’s death has been an eternal question to worry about over the last three seasons. Now more than ever, her death, which will trigger her vampire side and activate her full abilities as a tribrid, is more than likely. However, Hope, Lizzie, and Josie made a Panda Promise to ensure that would never happen.
According to TVLine’s Fall Season Preview for this year, the first four episodes of the season were supposed to wrap up Season 3. Showrunner Brett Matthews shared that those episodes will deliver “what the show has been building to for three seasons.” Plus, we know that Omono Okojie will be a series regular this year. That’s already a major win in favor of Season 4!

Hopefully, Hope doesn’t surrender her very clearly stated wish to not die and trigger her vampire side at the first sign of trouble. If one thing is certain, Hope’ll do anything to save Landon, but she cannot sacrifice something so important to her flippantly. This decision will have to come to her and be made by her when the time is right for her.
MG even expresses worries along those lines in the trailer. Then again, this is not the first time the Super Squad has geared up to save Hope and the day. The Super Squad has a lot on its plate this season. They have to find a way to save Landon, Cleo, and Hope while ridding themselves (and the world) of Malivore for good.

Oh, and they need to make sure no one else dies in the process. That quest will be quite the challenge as a very scary Malivore! Landon spells out by saying, “This is a warning for what this is fight is going to cost you. They’re going to keep coming and keep coming until all your friends are dead.”
There are small glimpses into Malivore’s threat becoming a reality in the trailer. The monsters are not letting up. What’s new there? Still, there’s hope because the Super Squad is a united front after a season of them being apart most of the time.

Legacies returns with Season 4 on Thursday, October 14 at 9/8c, only on The CW!
I totally agree that Hope shouldn’t play the Tribrid card unless they’ve exhausted all the other options first. There is always a loophole after all. Plus Landon would never want Hope to sacrifice her mortal human life in order to save him. It would break his heart to see her do that. I personally keep feeling if she does trigger her vampire side, her death won’t have been intentional on her part, and it’ll of course happen right after they figure out a way to defeat Malivore, because you know, angst.
