Josh Gad and Isla Fisher are absolutely the kind of combo we need to see more of in 2022. In the new Peacock series Wolf Like Me, they play Gary and Mary. Yes, those are their names, and the rhyming cheesiness isn’t lost on us. Gary is a single dad who is emotionally not ready for anything since the death of his wife. Fate has other plans when he meets Mary. She’s a woman with a secret of her own that she’s not quite ready to share.
Wolf Like Me sees their lives come crashing together, quite literally, after Mary hits Gary’s car while he’s driving with his daughter. As his daughter panics and Gary tries to get to her, Mary opens the kid’s door and manages to calm her down. It’s not shown or told as to what Mary said, but it shook her world enough to bring her out of the panic attack. And as the trailer progresses, Mary and Gary become drawn to each other, starting their journey together.
Fangirlish got the chance to speak to Josh Gad and Isla Fisher about Wolf Like Me. Along the way, we learned how to properly say Fisher’s name and that Gad can run with a joke and make you laugh for ages. They also showed us how strong their connection is and what makes this show such a must-watch. We also got a chance to speak with writer and director Abe Forsythe about these two and what it took to bring this story to life.
