Like an angel meant to soothe our hearts and souls, HBO Max has renewed Our Flag Means Death on the first day of Pride. This news comes almost three months after the show finished airing and after an intense campaign from fans advocating for more of the Revenge and its crew.
For those not in the know, Our Flag Means Death tells the story of Stede Bonnet (Rhys Darby) and Ed Teach aka Blackbeard (Taika Waititi). They are two pirates, the latter more than the former and the bond that grows between them on the high seas. Over time that bond transforms into something more than friendship.
But shhhhh spoilers for those who haven’t watched. And for those that have, the David Jenkins series will hopefully bring Stede and Ed closer together and mend the things that happened in the first season of Our Flag Means Death. Until then, here’s to fanfiction and the fandom having the time of their lives celebrating.
Which, Twitter had a bit of a hiccup when the news broke and the fandom said it was Our Flag Means Death fans breaking the site with their joy.
Others were cackling with joy that HBO Max were devious and made us wait til the first day of Pride.
Some theorized the evil that the showrunner must be planning for our poor souls.
Others were done with the Queen’s Jubilee and ready to turn it into a queer holiday.
Some of the crew even got into it and celebrated with the fans.
