As part of Geek Week, Netflix just dropped the Wednesday trailer…And…Hi. Hello. Even though it’s just 28 seconds of hardly anything, it’s also somehow absolutely everything.
Like, did we think the Tim Burton, king of, how you say, mysterious and spooky would sign on to direct and executive produce this project if it wasn’t going to absolutely nail the Wednesday Addams look and vibe? No. But are we still absolutely screaming over every little detail? Um, yeah—you might say that.
Because she already proved herself to be an absolute star in Scream, no, we’re not at all surprised that Jenna Ortega has us like, “omg it’s her” from just looking at the camera either. And, for the record, we were obsessed with Christina Ricci’s ’90s film version of the iconic character. So, having also been equally obsessed classic TV episodes of The Addams Family, this is where we say we’re kind of Wednesday Addams experts here. Also, when it comes to getting Wednesday right, we have set the bar really high.
But, somehow, this Wednesday trailer just does it for us. Is it the simplicity, or the snaps timed to the various text reveals? Could it be that blackened room with the spotlight? Or is the braids? Then again, maybe it’s just Ortega’s empty stare…or the fact that “NETFLIX WOEFULLY PRESENTS” the trailer to us, complete with a similar font—but in purple!—to all our previous Addams Family faves.
Eh. It’s probably all of the above. And, if Wednesday Addams were real, she’d probably want to murder us for being so excited to see her. But we can’t help it. We’re here for every tiny detail of this. So, um. More when???
Don’t take our word for it, though. Check out the Wednesday trailer below.
And, in case you missed it, here’s Thing’s solo debut.
