I can’t believe I’m reviewing the final ever episode of Chesapeake Shores. It’s bittersweet.
This is a massive episode.
It’s not just because it’s the final one.
It’s not that we see the arrival of a new baby.
It’s not just because Mick and Megan announce their engagement and get married.
It’s because it all happens in the same episode. Considering where all of the character were when the series first started out, the way that all of the storylines were tied up is emotional.

It shows the development that has happened across the season, and throughout the six seasons of the show. The feelings that the viewer still gets in the final season of the show.
The final episode starts with the arrival of Kevin and Sarah’s baby. It’s such an emotional moment that we have waited so long for. Most importantly the connection and healing that the family has done is front and center. How? We find out that they name the baby Mick!
While I was a bit disappointed with how the show dealt with Kevin and Sarah at the beginning, I think they redeemed themselves in the end. They both came into their own, particularly Kevin who finally seems to be following his dream of becoming a doctor.
It was such a great choice for the final episode of a show that was all about family. It’s always been about family and it remains about family. Growing, learning, and finding themselves; their love for each other never ending.
This season really hasn’t hidden away from hard topics. That continues in this final episode where we learn more about Evan giving, his childhood and how his mums boyfriends were abusive. The way Chesapeake Shores has drip fed us bits about Evan since his arrival has been somewhat beneficial, but it also makes us feel a little cheated.

We would love to see more Evan, learn more about him, but really also have had a chance to understand him earlier. But we do appreciate that we see it now, reasons why Evan behaves the way he does. Seeing him reuniting with his biological father and seeing the similarities between the two was really heartwarming. It feels like they both needed each other but they didn’t realize how much.
I’ve talked a lot this season about Bree’s chaotic energy and her tendency to sabotage relationships. Seeing Luke’s destructive moment in this final episode gave us a look at why Bree and Luke can understand each other. Bree’s passionate speech and the way she’s fought for what she wants the whole season, moved me. It showed she deserves all the happiness. Still not 100% sure on Luke but the fact he came back and fought for their relationship gives me hope.
I loved so much about this episode, but I can say wholeheartedly that my favourite thing about it was the moment around the campfire at the end. Can’t reiterate enough that when this family comes together it is everything.
I loved the characters remaining true to themselves. Kevin just making everyone laugh, regardless of the situation. Everyone giving heartfelt speeches was moving, but Kevins speech – “cheers” – it everything.
It will go down as one of my favourite moments in the show throughout all seasons of the show.
It may be the ending, but it was an episode of big announcements. The biggest, which made it feel like the show had come full circle was Mick handing over the business to Abby. If I look back on season one, I would have never believe that would happen.

If someone had said to me in season one that Jess would end the show being a mother, I never would have believed them. If someone had said to me that Abby would end up engaged, to someone who is not Trace, I wouldn’t have believed them. But Evan and Abby belong together… I realize that.
Chesapeake Shores may be over but the final episode delivered us a marriage, engagement and a baby so what more could we have asked for.
