NCIS: Los Angeles14×03 “The Body Stitchers” is the kind of episode that should have aired the night before Halloween instead of a week early, because even though it’s not technically a Halloween episode, it’s way creepier — and bloodier — than this show ever is. We’re used to explosions and national security being compromised, not gruesome bodies and dangerous serial killers escaping custody.
Again.
But “The Body Stitchers” is also a good episode for nostalgia, as it takes us back to characters last seen on Season 9 — before Fatima and Roundtree’s time, but very much something Deeks, Kensi and Sam (Callen is absent this episode) already dealt with. In that regard, it’s always good, as a fan, when a show you have invested in shows that it actually does remember its past — character and plot-wise.

The episode also allows Kensi to work with someone other than Deeks, which leaves Deeks free to work with Sam, a dynamic that has worked better than it has any right to for a long time. Whereas it was good to see Callen and Deeks work together last episode because it doesn’t happen as much, it’s great to see Deeks and Sam work together in this episode because it should happen more. Two different ideas.
But, as far as the case is concerned, once you watch a few procedurals, you know to mistrust the agents coming in — which means there’s nothing particularly surprising or engaging about the “resolution.” Maybe we should get fictional characters to watch more fictional procedurals? Might help them solve these faster.
This is probably not the last we see of these characters, but to be quite honest …I don’t much care? Other than gross, I would have been fine without them and I don’t need to see them again. Gruesome but not emotionally connected to the people we care about cases are like that. You might remember them, but there’s no big emotional attachment.

I get it, long season, some episodes will be like this one. And I still wouldn’t trade NCIS: Los Angeles for most other procedurals. But there’s little about this episode that was memorable, other than hey, these actors seem to really like each other and milk the little scenes together to give us crumbs of friendship and/or intimacy.
But none of that really makes NCIS: Los Angeles14×03 “The Body Stitchers” anywhere near special. In fact,m I will probably forget it was a thing as soon as I’m done with this review. You probably will too. And not even because you want to. There will just be better episodes to take its place.
Things I think I think:
- Part of me is like Arkady?! and the other part is like I need to see that cause hilarious.
- How is everyone in this show so handsome?
- Work/Life balance, Fatima! Don’t stay late every day.
- Hetty where are youuuu?
- Did Callen and Anna go on a romantic weekend getaway?
