Courtney announces big plans to make amends and confront the truth on Stargirl 3×09, “Frenemies – Chapter Nine: The Monsters.” The event that boosted Courtney’s confidence is likely her time at the Helix Institute. Now, back in Blue Valley, Courtney’s putting her refreshed perspective into action and reconnecting with her friends. She’s even making big moves to come clean to Cameron about everything.
The lunch table in the promo video and the photos instill confidence that at least Courtney, Beth, Rick, and Yolanda are on better speaking terms after their heated confrontation. In addition, the fact that Yolanda now lives at the Whitmore-Dugan house likely pushes Courtney and Yolanda closer, causing a ripple effect with Beth and Rick.
Unfortunately, for Cameron and Camney as a ship, the idea of disclosing past secrets unsurprisingly doesn’t land well with the team. Their (strengthened) apprehension could have something to do with whatever discovery Beth makes that leads to an unexpected battle. The fight may have something to do with who’s been watching them.
The promo video shows one intense battle inside Cameron’s house, so what if the person behind the cameras is someone directly tied to the Mahkents? If so, how much is Cameron actually aware of? Pat and Barbara’s idea to see if the Mahkents (still) pose a threat wasn’t entirely unfounded. Though, everything in the promo video is out of context.
There are two sides to every story, and “Frenemies – Chapter Nine: The Monsters” may show more of the Mahkents’ side to provide context for their actions. Elsewhere, this episode marks Paula and Larry’s return, who have missed the last few Stargirl episodes. The idea of Paula training Barbara is too good to have to wait until Wednesday to see.
Additionally, “Frenemies – Chapter Nine: The Monsters” will see Jakeem step into the leadership role in his duo with Mike. It’s an exciting turn for the character for Jakeem to step up for his desires — his literal wishes — even if it means that Mike will need to step back. In an episode whose title references monsters, it’s hopeful to know The Thunderbolt and Jakeem’s wishes will hopefully provide some balance.
