Starman crosses lines and breaks boundaries as he makes the team’s plan a solo mission in Stargirl 3×12, “Frenemies – Chapter Twelve: The Last Will and Testament of Sylvester Pemberton.” The penultimate episode of the final season marks the show’s return from a brief hiatus. The promo alone promises an intense venture for the Justice Society of America. Sylvester’s temper and inability to relinquish control, even temporarily, to anyone are significant parts of his Season 3 arc.
With Jordan Mahkent back from the presumed dead, Sylvester’s flaws intensify — again, and his wounds that never really healed in the first place are wide open. The promo video for “Frenemies – Chapter Twelve: The Last Will and Testament of Sylvester Pemberton” shows Sylvester falling into his not-so-old ways of fending for himself, no matter what anyone else says or does. Once again, that trait will come at the expense of Courtney, who has barely had the staff this season.
Of course, the scene in the promo video is out of context, so there’s a chance that Courtney, Pat, or someone else gets through to Sylvester before he embarks on a solo mission that could get him killed. After all, the episode title doesn’t instill much confidence in Sylvester’s survival rate. Alternatively, the photos inspire enough excitement about the JSA sharing at least one scene during “Frenemies – Chapter Twelve: The Last Will and Testament of Sylvester Pemberton.”
It’s especially thrilling that the photos suggest that the scene will be about Rick Tyler’s well-being, one of Stargirl Season 3’s most significant concerns heading into its final stretch. He’s not doing well, and hopefully, this scene will be one step in the right direction to get him the help he needs — and support from his friends. Also, Hournite fans will be pleased to see that Beth appears to be taking the lead in the scene. Stargirl needs more JSA scenes heading into the final two episodes.

SOLO MISSION — As the team devise a plan to deal with their latest threat, Sylvester takes matters into his own hands and leaves Courtney, Pat and the JSA fearing for what comes next. Amy Smart, Yvette Monreal, Anjelika Washington, Cameron Gellman, Trae Romano, Meg DeLacy, Hunter Sansone and Alkoya Brunson also star.
