9-1-1: Lone Star 4×02 “The New Hot Mess” was kind of all over the place. We got to see more of Tommy and her new feelings for her pastor, more of Owen’s new biker friends, and Iris met TK for dinner. Which didn’t exactly go the way TK hoped. Let’s review.
The Divorce Papers

In last week’s episode, titled “The New Hotness,” Iris said she wanted to meet TK, basically, so she could decide if he was good enough before signing the divorce papers. She kind of got into TK’s head by saying he was exactly what she thought he would be. That meant that TK is a bit of a mess and that’s exactly what Carlos goes for.
We thought that was a little harsh. TK may have had his issues in the past, but he isn’t a project for Carlos. They love each other. But at least Iris agrees and wants an annulment instead of a divorce. That way Carlos’ marriage to TK would be his first and divorce wouldn’t be on the record. Which is sweet. But she could have just told them that at dinner instead of being weird about it. How hard is that?
But now Iris has disappeared so any wedding plans will have to wait. Why did Iris disappear? Does it have to do with that missing person earlier? Whatever the reason, we hope she’s found soon. Because if anything happens to her Carlos will be absolutely devastated.
Tommy’s Dinner Date

Tommy continues to deal with the fact that her new crush is her pastor. She likes him, but is dating your pastor the best idea? After talking about it with almost everyone, she decides she still wants him. Ultimately, she invites Trevor for a dinner date –along with Judd, Grace, and their daughter. It was kind of awkward for everyone. But also somewhat hilarious seeing everyone’s reactions.
It ended well since Trevor definitely made his feelings known. He wants a real date next time. One without the “chaperones”.
We say that Tommy should go for it. Who cares if the people at the church talk? She deserves to be happy, and Trevor is very attractive. And obviously attracted to Tommy. So they have our approval. And they have Grace’s approval, too, and that’s important.
Hilarious Rescues

Besides the relationship drama, we were treated to one of the funniest rescues in the history of the show in “The New Hot Mess.” This poor lady’s house was stolen… with her still inside. Her ex-husband is definitely a piece of work and didn’t care who or what he destroyed as long as he got the house. She was also not quite stable because she wanted the house, too. And refused to leave even after Marjan came to help her. She screamed that the house was hers and “Possession is nine-tenths of the law.”
Well, as Marjan pointed out, she was about to be the owner of “nine-tenths of nothing.” She finally listened to reason and got out of the house just before it crashed into the overpass. And the husband hopefully will spend some time in jail.
The other funny rescue was listening to Grace calm a woman down after a bird flew into her home. This call sounded hilarious, and Grace was so calm. Of course, we don’t know how she stopped herself from laughing during this whole ordeal, but she was great.
Other Thoughts:
- We’re so glad that Tommy has a friend like Grace. Everyone needs a friend that’s always in their corner and has their best interests in mind. Judd isn’t bad either.
- Marjan was a badass in her rescue this week. Can we have more of this, please?
- Is Owen’s undercover operation really necessary? He doesn’t seem very interested, and we’re not that interested in watching him interact with Nazis.
