9-1-1: Lone Star is back for a new season, and we are beyond excited. It feels like forever since we’ve been able to watch our favorite first reponders from Texas, and we’ve really missed them. The season premiere, “The New Hotness” gave us some intense rescues (of course), new characters, and some huge surprises that have set us up for a great season. Let’s review.
Carlos’ Big Secret
Let’s just get right to the biggest surprise of the the episode: Carlos is married? What? We were so shocked and upset that he kept this from T.K. But then we learned that it’s Michelle’s sister, Iris, that he married, and he stayed married so his health insurance would help her. And, to be fair, he thought she was dead. So we can’t be too mad at him. Besides, who can be upset when we get to see Lyndsy Fonseca on our screens?
Iris seems like she’s doing great which is really nice to see. And she clearly still cares for Carlos and wants to meet T.K. to make sure he’s good enough before she signs the divorce papers. We think she’s joking. Maybe. But we’re happy to have some new female characters on this show, and we’re excited to see this friendship with Carlos, Iris and T.K. (hopefully) develop over the season. And we’re hoping that she’ll sign the divorce papers so T.K. and Carlos can get married sooner rather than later. Because no one wants to wait 18 months for that marriage to happen.

Weather
Yes, we’re talking about the weather. But in this case it’s because the weather was absolutely insane in “The New Hotness”. It wasn’t raining cats and dogs here; it was raining frogs, literally. Trevor, who’s new in town (more on that later) actually gets a frog stuck in his throat. Later, after ridiculous sized hail attacks the town, a heat wave moves in with a storm. Poor Caleb gets trapped in a portapotty after he flies across the town. This was so gross. We felt bad for Trevor as he was drowning in the portapotty. Luckily, Grace and the 126 are able to save the day. We have to say: this may be the grossest rescue the show has ever had. We’re glad Trevor’s going to be okay. After a large dose of antibiotics, of course.

Tommy’s New Love Interest?
Trevor was also caught in the freak heat storm while trying to spend time with his daughter. He’s divorced, and he was trying to enjoy time with his daughter. We have some advice for Trevor: next time watch a movie or go get ice cream. Avoid the creepy faris wheel at the fair. It wasn’t all bad for Trevor though: he got to see Tommy again, and she gave him her number.
Later, at the end of the episode, the Ryders and Tommy are enjoying their church service. We admit, it was lovely, but we didn’t quite know why we were watching this. Until the new pastor is introduced. It’s Trevor.
This is interesting. And hilarious. Tommy was completely shocked and told Grace she made a pass at her pastor. We’re very excited to see where this goes. Tommy deserves a new man in her life, and we’re not going to be mad about seeing D.B. Woodside more often.
Other Thoughts:
- Can Owen find any normal people to hang out with? How did he manage to find the worst group possible?
- We’re glad that Mateo and Nancy are still together.
- Judd talking about potty training. How cute is Judd as a dad?
