We are with you for one more week! In The Rookie: Feds 1×13 “The Remora” love was the undisputed protagonist while the characters begin to take shape. Ready?
Dead-end Dating in The Rookie: Feds 1×13 “The Remora”
Definitely, love is the undisputed protagonist of The Rookie: Feds 1×13 “The Remora,” although not all the characters have the same luck with it. Meanwhile, Brendon and Antoinette have a rocky first date. We seriously lost count of the times their date was interrupted.
That is to say, we know that their respective jobs are demanding and it is somewhat difficult to reconcile that with social life but c’mon! Both indeed tried to alleviate the situation as they could and have the date they were destined to have. And it worked. But this makes us wonder how long it will do it for.
That is to say, it is clear that Brendon and Antoinette are not endgame nor are they destined to be, but we don’t know to what extent it is a good decision that the show puts so many stones in their path from the second one.
Don’t get us wrong, we’re still rooting for them and we believe that the obstacles that The Rookie: Feds 1×13 “The Remora” shows to their relationship are logical — both of their work is demanding and, especially for Brendon, it must be the priority — and they were going to show their faces sooner rather than later, but we would have liked the series to give us more time to just see what happens between them.
We felt that The Rookie: Feds 1×13 “The Remora” didn’t let them be or give us enough time for us to invest in both of them before just…making it clear that they aren’t going to have much of a future.
Dating Apps Are Not For Everyone…and Long Distance Love Isn’t Either
Carter also begins to open up to love again in The Rookie: Feds 1×13 “The Remora.” In his case, he feels out of place because the dating world has changed so much since he was last in it. Online dating becomes his best resource… but also his worst.
It’s the best resource because it means having the screen and distance for protection but, at the same time, it’s the worst thing Carter can do because it all feels too impersonal and cold. So it doesn’t go quite right.
However, the true spark cannot be manufactured and it finally happened when Carter wasn’t looking for it. His chemistry with the nurse crossed the screen. So it seems that Carter got what he was looking for in The Rookie: Feds 1×13 “The Remora,” although not in the way he expected.
Laura, for her part, decides to take her relationship with Mark one step further in The Rookie: Feds 1×13 “The Remora” and nothing goes well. They were having a kind of long-distance relationship, something more casual, and that worked for them. But naming everything makes it a little more real, and more formal, and that comes with expectations that neither of them is ready to fulfill.
Maintaining a long-distance relationship is difficult but it is even harder when that relationship is just beginning. In addition, the past of both is something that ended up weighing too much. Altogether it is the ideal recipe for disaster and it was all over before it started. We are sad about this because the show could have gotten more out of them.
PS: I have to comment that I understood Simone and Cutty in The Rookie: Feds 1×13 “The Remora” because, although Trevor is not a bad person, it is understandable to me that Simone wants someone that she considers useful next to her daughter. That being said, she was great at realizing that it wasn’t her decision to make. Billie is a big girl and it’s up to her to decide.
The Rookie: Feds season 1 airs Tuesdays at 9/10 on ABC.
