We are here again! The Rookie: Feds 1×06 “The Reaper” is the episode where Brendon and Carter must face their past while Simone goes undercover and has a meaningless epiphany about her relationship with Dina. Ready?
Here we go!
Sons Who Behave Like Parents in The Rookie: Feds 1×06 “The Reaper”

In The Rookie: Feds 1×06 “The Reaper” we know a little more about Brendon’s past. His life is marked by the attitude of his father. He behaves like a kid who doesn’t take anything seriously and expects Brendon to get him out of all the trouble, whether it’s because of his fame or his badge.
Brendon feels compelled to do so both because he is his father and because Brendon doesn’t want him to have to face anything bad if he can help. However, when we are adults, our actions are not childish. And we need to live with the consequences of them.
All this so that we can learn from the experience. Brendon is behaving like his father’s father in The Rookie: Feds 1×06 “The Reaper” and that, as Laura tells him, is not healthy and doesn’t help either of them.
As Laura tries to make him understand, Brendon cannot allow his father to use and treat him that way. And less without telling him how he feels to allow him to change. It’s not healthy. That anger, rage, and frustration that Brendon feels, will explode sooner or later. In the end, Brendon follows Laura’s advice and dots his father’s i’s.
Fathers Who Never Behaved As One

He ignores him, but at least Brendon can admit to himself that he tried and that his father is not going to change for a long time. This will help him know what to expect and not go back to his father’s call when he wants to use Brendon again.
Sometimes there are no happy endings or easy solutions. That’s exactly what happens with Brendon and his father in The Rookie: Feds 1×06 “The Reaper.” Once Brendon confirmed that his father will always be the same, he must make the most difficult decision he will ever make: to walk away.
Getting away from the people who hurt us is not easy, much less if those people are our parents. But it is what Brendon must do to turn the page. We are sure that he will.
The Past Returns in The Rookie: Feds 1×06 “The Reaper”

Carter faces a case from his past in The Rookie: Feds 1×06 “The Reaper.” We have to admit that, at first, we thought that Carter was in danger and that this prisoner wanted to make his life in pieces. We mean, Carter’s life was in her hands. But then we realized that she just wanted Carter to help her get in touch with her daughter.
She’s a different person than she was when she walked into that jail and she just wanted her daughter to give her a chance to prove it. And for Carter to give her a hand with it. We don’t think she would have ratted out Carter if he refused. She gave him plenty of time to give her an answer. But Carter’s identity was the only card she could play with in The Rookie: Feds 1×06 “The Reaper,” so she took advantage of it.
And we liked that ending. It seems that she noticed Carter… of course, he showed her that he is a man of his word and handsome. Hopefully, we will see her again!
Epiphanies Without Sense

Simone is also not having a good time in The Rookie: Feds 1×06 “The Reaper.” Adding to the stress of undercover work in prison is discovering that Dina was engaged and she hadn’t told her. It is true that the two of them didn’t talk about exes and that Simone cannot be angry because Dina has a past.
But it’s not in good taste for Simone to find out that her girlfriend was in such a serious relationship before her and that Dina didn’t tell her. Simone can’t help but wonder why Dina didn’t tell her. When Simone talks to her, everything becomes clear. Dina is starting to feel something very nice and special for Simone and she just wanted it to stay that way, without staining it with a sad past.
And this is where something that doesn’t make any sense comes up: Simone breaks up with Dina. And she doesn’t do it because she doesn’t feel the same as Dina, but because, with her job, maintaining a stable relationship is difficult and she doesn’t want to hurt her if what happens between them doesn’t work out. WTF!? Aren’t love and relationships just about taking risks?
We don’t understand this twist that The Rookie: Feds 1×06 “The Reaper” gave regarding Simone and Dina. Yes, everything can go wrong and both can suffer. But everything can also go wonderfully well. The two love each other, why would they stop living their love because it is complicated? It’s precisely in difficult moments that the strength of that love is demonstrated.
Of course, Simone’s job complicates the chances of having a stable relationship, but it doesn’t make it impossible. And if Simone truly felt what she says she feels about Dina, she would find a way to make the complicated simple.
It’s a shame that such a beautiful relationship has been broken like this, in such an abrupt, illogical, and meaningless way. Hopefully Simone – and the writers – will reconsider this and bring them back together.
Other Stuff in The Rookie: Feds 1×06 “The Reaper”

- Cutty and Simone’s conversation about the time he was unjustly locked up gave me life. Simone had to spend only one day there and that tension, the apprehension, the knot in her stomach…it’s something she couldn’t shake. For his father, it had to be hell. That’s why he admires him so much more.
- Brendon and Simone’s friendship is EVERYTHING. We love them together.
- If Tangled taught us something, it’s that you always have to have a frying pan at hand, right?
- We love that the villain is a woman, other shows would have put the typical man playing this role.
- Laura advising Brendon and worried about him made us smile.
- Lucy in fan mode. WE LOVE IT.
