Chenford *Almost* Married in The Rookie 5×13 “Daddy Cop”
The Rookie 5×13 “Daddy Cop” is a transitional episode, so there isn’t much to comment on beyond what we all saw on our screen. However, there are some details about Chenford that we find interesting.
Lucy tries by all means that Tim has the job that he deserves and that will make him happy. She knows Tim is miserable at that office job, he’s a man of action, and seeing him so off…she loves him and can’t take it. And less knowing that she is the main reason he is there.
Lucy is nothing if she is not a fighter and in The Rookie 5×13 “Daddy Cop” she refuses that the only option to be together is that Tim is condemned to that boring job forever. She loves him too much to watch him fade away day after day behind an office chair. And that’s what you do when you love someone: you give everything to the person you love. There is nothing you wouldn’t do for them.
And we like this. Not only do we like that Tim is no longer in a desk job — that would have been a hopeless bump in the road for Chenford — but that he’s gotten it himself. He deserves it and we think Lucy’s intervention would have made him feel grateful but also something like he didn’t earn the job.
In this way, in The Rookie 5×13 “Daddy Cop” Lucy helped just enough to make things happen but it was Tim who got the job on his own merits. It’s a win-win situation.
On the other hand, we love the way Tim inadvertently just watches over Lucy in the room, and in front of everyone, he worries about whether she’s okay. Also, the confidence he has in her is amazing.
But the moment which left us sighing with love is when Tim can’t take his eyes off Lucy as he says goodbye to her at the police station. That’s the precise moment in which Tim knew that he was going to marry that woman. I swear to god, I can’t love them more than I already do!
