Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies has finally dropped its official trailer for the prequel series and honestly…we’re here for it.
Grease has always been an iconic movie. (Personally, we don’t acknowledge the sequel. We said, what we said.) The OG movie was full of tropes like summer romance, bookworm falls for bad guy, and makeovers. And it has inspired a whole generation to try and bring that magic into other works. Let’s not forgetting the singing, outfits, and high school cliques.
But personally, while everyone was paying attention to Sandy and Zuko, we were watching the Pink Ladies. Rizzo did whatever the hell she wanted and was unapologetic about it. Frenchie had that iconic hair and that iconic song “Beauty School Drop Out.” Jan was living to the beat of her own drum. And Marty is a damn mood with every look.
Now Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies is trying to recreate that magic by telling the story of the creation of the Pink Ladies. Because baddies like this don’t just pop out of nowhere. This is a choice and a community that goes against the grain of what it is to be a woman in the 1950’s. And we’re excited to get to know the young women who started this group.
Read the official synopsis below:
In 1954, four years before the original Grease, before rock ‘n’ roll ruled and before the T-Birds were the coolest in the school. It follows four fed-up outcasts who dare to have fun on their own terms, sparking a moral panic that will change Rydell High forever.
