While we’re going to be the first to admit that Not Dead Yet started off slow for us and we were like meh about it, we also admit that it grew on us. We should have known that it would be something that we would enjoy.
It has Gina Rodriguez after all.
The show was renewed for a second season and we’re definitely excited for this. We need to know all of the things and we’re definitely interested to see how it is that Nell’s character grows. But we’re also interested in what ghosts will appear and whose obituary she will be writing.
We want to see more of Sam and Lexi. We want to see if Dennis and his husband have a baby.
We wish we’d see more of Monty, but his ghost has moved on.
The series centers around Rodriguez’s character, Nell Stevens, who restarts a career that she left over a decade prior. She gave up her career as a journalist 10 years prior in order to help her man get his restaurant off the ground. We wanna cry for her, because she should never have put her life on hold for anyone.
She ends up living with a stranger after the breakup. She is broke, newly single, and a self proclaimed disaster. The job she lands is writing obituaries and ends up getting help from an unlikely source.
Our money is betting on the fact that she will continue to get help from the ghosts of the people that she’s writing the obituaries about and that’s going to change her even more. Hopefully a ghost tells her that Peter isn’t worth her time.
The potential series is based on Confessions of a Forty-Something F**k Up, by Alexandra Cooper.
