The war for the soul of the Time Variance Authority (TVA) and the multiverse, in general, is on the line in Loki season 2. And thanks to the official trailer, we now have a clearer picture of how batshit-crazy it’s going to get. Because it isn’t just the TVA and the timeline that is splintered, so is Loki himself, who is seeking answers on how to fix what has been broken even if it leads him to a retro version of Kang.
In some truly amazing special effects that show the power and genius of the VFX department of this show, he’s splintering through time in a horrifying fashion. Something that doesn’t seem to phase the newest addition of Loki, Ke Huy Quan, and Mobius himself who is really chill about this to the point of taking some downtime and having some pie. Combine that with the music, which also speaks to the love put into this show by its creatives who definitely deserve matching pay, and season 2 already has a distinct style and appeal that makes me want to watch now.
Then there’s Tom Hiddleston himself. He’s still as good-looking as ever in his button-up and tie. And we’re hoping that he gets more screen time with Sophia Di Martino‘s Sylvie, who is sporting a killer mullet. And there’s also the simple fact that she killed He Who Remains as revenge for the pain and suffering she experienced throughout her life, leading to his variants coming to town to destroy the Sacred Timeline and what’s happening in season 2 overall. That needs a conversation between Loki and Sylvie. Stat.

This piece was written during the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Without the labor of the writers and actors currently on strike, Loki being covered here wouldn’t exist.
