So far, the promotional materials for Interview with the Vampire Season 2 have been absolutely glorious, and the latest full trailer is no exception. In fact, this is one of those cases where we don’t even know how to begin breaking it all down because there is so. much. information. in AMC’s “extended look.” So, don’t worry. We’ll just be over here losing our minds for a while. No big deal.
So, what are some of the most unforgettable moments in the network’s latest promo? (Besides all of them, of course.) Well, first of all, there’s the reminder that Louis’ story may not be the most reliable on the planet. As the trailer begins, we hear Louis (Jacob Anderson) remind us, “it is how it happened. I didn’t think it at the time. But…Yeah.” Then, amidst all the chaos of…everything, really…we’re greeted with a warning from the creatives behind the series itself: “MEMORY. IS. THE. MONSTER.”
But there are several main characters who might take issue with that, with Lestat (Sam Reid) and Armand (Assad Zaman) both possibly fighting for who really gets the title of The Monster of Louis’ heart (and ours). After everything we’ve seen so far, we know better than to choose. They both win…which they’d probably both hate, actually.
Lestat has some great moments in the extended look, and they all reinforce everything we know, love, and love to hate about him. That probably explains it all. Besides, what more could we even say about Lestat, our Brat Prince, our “hurricane,” as Armand calls him? That he’s sure to be every bit as monstrous as some of the easy to miss images in this absolutely packed trailer imply? Or that he will be an absolute stunner on the stage, in all his melodramatic and attention-stealing glory?
Truly the most unhinged, if nothing else. The Season 2 trailer definitely reinforces that characterization — as he deserves. Exhibit A:
Perhaps we should simply point out that Armand, at least at some point in this story, might be just a wee bit jealous of him? Either that, or maybe they’re just going way nuts and taking a Jan Brady impression to the Théâtre des Vampires. Whichever. Regardless, that’s definitely a moment we’ll remember forever — Armand just…saying Lestat’s name over and over. Lestat aside, though, there’s the 77-year relationship with Louis to consider. And the shot of the two vampires just, casually snuggled up on the couch for Daniel’s interview is absolutely everything. (…especially when we think about Armand’s role in certain other things.)
But even if everything goes according to existing lore, we’re told we “should fear the other one.” Like, which “other one,” though? Louis? Lestat? Claudia, whose “f*ck these vampires” diary entry Daniel reads aloud? (Poetry, if we’re being honest.) Or is it…someone else. Because we can think of a few vampires we most definitely wouldn’t want to come across on a dark night in Paris, some of whom Claudia definitely ought to avoid. And, coincidentally, unsuspecting humans who think they’re going to see a show most definitely want to avoid them, too. But don’t take our word for it. Take that one lady’s screams.

More thoughts:
- Lestat de Lioncourt, burning in Hell…or at least his portrait is getting a taste of what that might be like.
- Aww, true love. If only they weren’t, you know, unhinged monsters.
- But are they going to make me care about Claudia again before…
- “A sh*t life beats no life.”
- Those bows.
- Ben Daniels. Yes.
- “There is no scripting Lestat.” Correct.
- That one gorgeous shot of the Brat in the audience, though…This is what we call art, friends.
- Is that who we think it is…???
- We’re thinking David Talbot, right? Please.
- Oh, hey. Baby Daniel Molloy, getting that “careful what you wish for” treatment.
- “Me and you. You and me.” Ok but something tells us nobody here is going to be “so happy together.”
- Fire Gift.
- That one shot is giving the end of the 94 movie. Here for it.
- Blood tears!
