One of the best pieces of advice that we can give is to always pay attention to your body. It’s going to give you clues how it is feeling and tell you what you need to do for it.
Taylor Lautner is a nurse and she has learned to pay attention to her body in school and did just that. She was doing her monthly breast self exam and felt a lump in her breast. While we would be the first to understand if she kept this private, the podcast host spoke about it on her podcast, The Squeeze.
“I had a few little health scares over the past couple months,” she said on the podcast she hosts with her husband. “Everything is okay now. I am happy and thriving. I’m definitely in a good little spot, but we had a couple little things.”
While it’s no ones business but hers as to what is going on with her body, she used her platform for good and talked about what she’s been though.
“I guess this first one, I didn’t even really tell anyone about it ’cause after it passed, I didn’t even, once we figured out everything was okay, I didn’t really feel like bringing it up again. But here I am sharing it with you guys cuz yeah I think it’ll be it’s a very important reminder.” she contiuned.
Getting more vulnerable, she continued, “A couple months ago, I was in the shower and Taylor was gone doing something. I was home alone with the dogs, and you know, I’m showering, washing my body, soaping myself up and I felt this lump on my boob. I kind of paused for a second and was like, ‘Wait, what?’ Then I, like, pressed on it again and started to feel it and there was like this hard lump there. I literally just, like, stood in the shower and completely froze. I was literally thinking every single thought in the world.”
She went on to say that she did go to the doctor and they did say it was fine. Breast tissue (well, truthfully any tissue) can change over time, but it is very important to check. It is very important that you know and listen to your body.
She added to her story, saying, “It’s just, like, so terrifying. We talk about breast cancer and [tell] women to check their breasts, how to make sure there’s no lumps or bumps or anything. But when that actually happens, it’s literally straight panic.”
We’re thankful for the reminder. We’re definitely checking our breasts and this is your reminder to check yours.
