The Bachelorette 21×02 brings on the drama, as everyone – except Jenn Tran – hates Devin. And though it seems like Jenn will cut off this drama at the head by eliminating Thomas N, that doesn’t happen in the end, which means we’ll have drama for longer. Oh, yay.
We watch The Bachelorette for a little drama, so this isn’t a bad thing. But within the context of watching Jenn possibly get her happily ever after, the drama isn’t exactly a great thing either. Instead, this episode sets up good things for the people who watch The Bachelorette for their Too Hot to Handle vibes, but not as much for the people looking for the Love is Blind happy ending.
Hilariously, this episode also proves The Bachelorette is way more dramatic than The Bachelor. It’s time we admit it, the men bring the drama in a way the women don’t. At least not consistently. Society tells us women are the more dramatic, but if over two decades of these two shows airing at the same time have shown us, that is certainly not the case.
The one solo date was kinda nice

Marcus was good on the solo date, and I got a feeling he is going to get far. He has good chemistry with Jenn, and he was actually very much the kind of partner I would have wanted on a date like this one, too. But there’s just something about him, I’m not so sure about.
He did open up, and I might just be judging him because of the American flag detail, which I still maintain is a red flag. Who packs a flag? No, seriously. Please walk me through the process of packing a flag over something you can wear. But I just don’t see him and Jenn actually having real fun together, which is why I think she wants. He can be a steady presence, but I think she wants someone more like …dear God, Devin.
But there was a roast on the first group date

Not that anyone other than Jenn likes Devin. And to be honest, Devin wasn’t as much of a problem by himself, it was more his reaction to everyone having a problem with him. And a lot of the other guys didn’t look great in the way they reacted to Devin. It was a whole drama. And I get that there are heightened emotions and they all wanted a moment with Jenn and all of that, but my dudes, you all need to take a breather.
Starting with Devin! Sure, Thomas N. took it way too far, and I think the bigger issue was that he interrupted Devin and Jenn to talk to Devin, not to Jenn, but Devin also let it get to him; despite saying multiple times he wasn’t letting it get to him. And there’s no way this is the end of the Devin-related drama considering how many people other than Thomas N, like Sam M. and Aaron (the book was kind of hilarious, I’m not gonna lie)
And people wanting more in the second one

The second date kinda went the way we all should have known it was gonna go, and hey I respect it. I would have picked whoever stepped up for me and picked up that snake too. And Dylan is super cute and very nice, and absolutely does not deserve to be confused with Devin. But yeah, I kinda get that the other guys were all a bit bummed when they got home.
But why do they think there’s fairness to The Bachelorette I will never understand. There are no codes of honor here. You’re all dating the same woman, my dudes. At some point, someone’s gonna get hurt.
Which queued up the drama

I cannot even remember who got cut (spoiler alert, it was: Brian, Marvin, and Jahaan), but there wasn’t anyone really memorable, and it wasn’t anyone in the middle of the fight, so the drama will continue on for another day. And the drama really, really hit its breaking point during the night, too.
Sam M. was straight up enjoying the Thomas N. vs Devin dust-up, no one (except maybe Brian, who is gone) was really on Devin’s side, and Aaron tried to give Devin some self-help book about emotional intelligence earlier in the episode. Devin obviously did not read it. It was all a lot and none of it made me like this guy any more. I don’t think it made Jenn like them any more, though kudos to her for not letting it affect her opinion of the guys completely.
Either way, this episode was more drama than connections, and hey, you might like that, but it really isn’t what Jenn is here for, is it?
