While the sun has set on Eddie Diaz and his glorious mustache, we will always remember the moments we shared on ABC’s 9-1-1.
When first introduced, we were rightfully confused by Eddie’s mustache. Firefighters aren’t allowed facial hair due to health and safety concerns because they can interfere with protective gear. But if you’ve ever encountered a firefighter in your life, many find a loophole in the mustache. And after 7 seasons of watching 9-1-1, people didn’t expect Eddie Diaz to be the one to have a mustache.
A part of that surprise was due to Eddie being a man of rules. He doesn’t believe in fate, destiny, or any of the jinx like stuff his found family at the 118 does. And over the years he’s cultivated a presence that wouldn’t necessarily take a risk like a mustache. But he did, only recently revealing that it was a way to mask himself more than anything.
So as celebrate Eddie letting go of the mustache and exploring new joys in his life, let’s remember the good times we had together one last time.
Update: Post now has a playlist of different versions of Sarah McLachlan’s “Angel” that you can listen to while you remember his mustache <3
Remember when we stared down authority together?

Remember when we looked at a beenado together with our work besties?

Remember when we rode around with our bestie, even in the background drawing attention to us?

Remember when we appeared in court together to support our family?

Remember when we were made nervous by a hot priest while wearing a cut off shirt?

Remember when we made fun of our best friend together when he was cursed?

Remember when we helped victims together?

Remember when we posed together all pretty with our best friend?

Remember when we went on calls together and looked pretty in our fire gear?

Remember when we realized that it was a way to hide from ourselves?

And finally, remember when we set ourselves free to discover who we truly are?

RIP Eddie Diaz’s mustache. You will be missed.
