The second season of Percy Jackson & The Olympians keeps getting better and better. If there is one thing that they are definitely doing right, it’s their casting.
Andra Day is joining the Season 2 cast of Percy Jackson and the Olympians as Athena, the Greek Goddess of Wisdom. The singer/actress/badass announced it on her Instagram in a joint post with the official account for the Percy Jackson series.
“Like mother, like daughter.” the caption reads, “🔱 Andra Day is Athena”
We thought that Day was phenomenal in The United States vs. Billie Holiday, which earned her a Golden Globe for best drama actress. Not to mention that she won a Grammy for the soundtrack also. There is nothing that she can’t do.
Her as Athena seems like the perfect casting.
In the new season, Percy Jackson returns to Camp Half-Blood one year later to find his world turned upside down. His friendship with Annabeth is changing, he learns he has a cyclops for a brother, Grover has gone missing, and camp is under siege from the forces of Kronos. Percy’s journey to set things right will take him off the map and into the deadly Sea of Monsters, where a secret fate awaits the son of Poseidon.
