There is nothing like an act of God (or you know Mother Nature) to make you think about your life and all of the things that you’ve done. The tornado in Ransom Canyon changed a lot for our cast of characters, but in a way I do believe that is for the best. I believe change is good, but I also believe that change is scary.
While everyone in this series has had a lot of growth – in a short amount of time – I will also say that sometimes growth is regression so that others can grow from your mistakes.
Now, I may be making no sense to some, but to myself, I am. I feel like as the stories of what is happening to all of these characters in Ransom Canyon and the wonder of if the pipeline will happen that remains.
But what I do know right now, watching this show is that I don’t care about the pipeline. What I do care about is that these characters are given the chance to live their truths and remain in their homes. I also embrace my dislike for Davis – especially after this episode.

WHAT HAPPENED
When you’re dead asleep and you’re awaken with people pounding at your door – that’s scary. That’s the type of thing that would have me crawling under my covers. For Lucas, he heads straight towards towards the door to see what is going on.
And what is going on? Well turns out Kit is getting arrested. What Reid had said to Dan put it over the edge. They had everything that they needed to arrest Kit for Randalls death.
I do not believe for a second that Kit was at fault for Randalls death. I think that it’s whomever he’s working with or for that did it. Kit was doing whatever he could to keep him and Lucas safe and his job was shady and was struggling to keep his family together.
Kit won’t stick up for himself and he won’t say he’s guilty – but I have to admit I only think that is because of Lucas. He wants to keep Lucas safe.
That night – the night Randall died – Kit called Reid and Tim to come and dispose of the truck. Reid and Tim didn’t know that it had anything to do with Randall’s passing or they never would have had gotten rid of the truck. They were besties. Randall and Reid were all that each other had – regardless of their fathers.
It killed Reid to know that he was involved in any way prolonging the sheriff figuring out what happened to Randall.

QUINN FEELS GUILT
When it comes to Quinn, she’s going through a lot, but the way she reacts to things is giving away that a lot is going through her mind. I love Quinn and I think that she’s got the best of intentions, but her heart is leading her a million different ways. Right now, it feels like it’s just making her cranky.
The thing about a love triangle is that for awhile they feel a little fun, but after a bit – you want to scream and tell people to make a choice. You want for the people involved to finally stop dragging things out. Slow burns are great sometimes, but also sometimes I want to hop in the screen and light that thing on fire.
Quinn has to make a choice.
Right now, she is feeling everything deep and she’s not wanting to hurt anyone. I do think that the person she is wants to be is one devoid of conflict, but I also feel like conflict is all that Ransom has. She heads to Gracies to see how it is, but also to have control over something.
It’s just that as she heads to Gracies, she feels even more out of control. Ellie is taking care of everything that it takes to fix the place. She’s hired Lauren. She’s done all of this without consulting Quinn and that frustrates her.
But I think we need to give Ellie more credit. She sees like different than anyone else does. I believe that Ellie is underestimated – well, by everyone but Yancy. When Quinn gives Ellie the day off, for a second I had to think that she was mad. But, I don’t think that it was anger – I think that it was her way of her apologizing.
Quinn is trying to just make it through when Staten shows up. He wants to talk about everything that happened in the cellar and she wants to avoid it. She calls it a mistake and he doesn’t agree. To him, she is everything. That is evident.
Right when you think that these two are going to have a breakthrough, Davis shows up. He’s always showing up at the most inconvenient time – both physically and mentally. This time he shows up with Quinn telling Staten that this is about Davis and Quinn admits that it is.
Lord that man is everywhere, even when you don’t want him to be. Davis is like a leech on a persons soul.

LUCAS AND LAUREN
With everything going on in town, everyone has to put their lives back together. As dramatic as everyones life is, these two seem to take the cake.
Lucas world is turned upside down. With Kit in jail – Staten fired him and he’s concerned about what happens next. Lauren hasn’t turned her back on him and he’s trying to encourage her to keep moving forward. He wants her to keep moving forward and to go to the clinic at UT.
Only there is no way that is happening. You see her Dad doesn’t feel that she lived up to her end of the bargain and stayed away from Lucas. He’s not wrong but what I am having a hard time with is how her Dad can justify stifling her dreams. It doesn’t make sense to me. Parents are supposed to want better for their children.
It’s Lucas encouragement that I love and it’s up to these two how their story is told. It’s up to these two how things work out for them. These two are complicated creatures, but the way that these two love so innocently and so deeply, is why you can’t help but love them so.
Lucas and Lauren are finding their way – they are still so young, but that’s kind of the beauty of who they are – dreamers. They both are looking for a way out of Ransom.
But just because you are looking for a way out doesn’t mean you’ll be given one. You still have to work towards it.
Lauren doesn’t do great at the clinic. Her ankle is still screwed up because of the tornado. She’s feeling stuck and that’s why she lashes out at her Mom. Yes, she sees her Mom – who actually signed her permission slip. She’s angry at her leaving – which is fair. She’s angry over her Mom getting out after trapping Lauren there in Ransom.
But I don’t think that she’s trapped. It’s just everything feels so final when you’re so young.
Laurens parents may not see things the way that she does, but it doesn’t mean that the way she sees it is wrong. You can’t help but feel for her though – she’s having to raise her parents when they should be taking care of her.
HOW DO I COME BACK
The thing about Yancy changing and not wanting to hurt Cap – well, that I love. I love that Yancy has become this man who wants to love deeply and whole heartedly, even when it scares him.
Yancy is trying to make Ellie understand what he is feeling about everything, but she’s not hearing it. For a moment that angered me, but then shortly after that I respected her for it. She’s not only guiding and protecting herself, but she’s also protecting Cap.
And Cap does need to be protected.
Ellie reminds Yancy that Cap may not take it well, but that’s okay, because no matter what Yancy tried. And he does try. He tries when the two are fishing and gets too nervous. When he says that it all started when he was a kid, no wonder that Cap wanted to pass and just move on.
Coming to terms with secrets and having them not come to light isn’t easy. It’s not even close to being easy. I think that burying them is easy. Coming to terms that somethings you don’t have to or want to face is going to change even the strongest of people.
The thing is though – when you miss your chance to be honest, someone else will be honest for you. When they are – even if their truth is not your truth – it will be all that matters. People may then respond from a place of hurt and when someone does that to them – everything changes.

PAULA JONES PLAN IN PLAY
One thing that has happened in this show is that we’ve seen that no one can be trusted. Granted we know this in life, but this is a show that does a great job at showcasing that. It’s also shown us just how sinister that people can be to get what they want.
Paula Jo and Davis really only care about the bottom dollar. They are no really worried about people – just cash. And yes, I would also say that the two of them really don’t care about Reid over money. They’ll claim they do and I think that to a point they believe that about themselves. It’s just that they would be lying to themselves.
Paula Jo’s whole plan to force Staten to sell by getting false readings on his wells, is diabolical. One night she’s having sex with him in the front seat of his car and the next second she’s planning his demise. That’s just all over the place.
When the town is meeting at Gracie’s, I didn’t have any idea what was going to happen. I had no clue as to how Staten would get himself out of this – but it turns out that he didn’t need to. It turns out that sometimes people are just going to do the right thing.
Reid has been looking for redemption and if we’re being honest, I didn’t see that ever happening. But at this meeting, where he outs his Mom with a recording of her plans. Reid did the right thing, but that doesn’t mean that his parents will respond with the right thing.
His father lashes out, telling Reid how wrong that he did that. They always preach that they are doing things to help him, but he knows that they are up to some real suspect s***.
OTHER THOUGHTS
- Staten being able to see where he’s wrong about Lucas – that was a powerful thing because it shows his growth. Lucas isn’t his brother.
- Lauren telling her Mom off – I applauded.
- Jake saying that family don’t make us.. well ain’t that the truth.
- Lucas having the idea to make the wells solar – that kid is smart.
- Lucas offering to go to jail for Kit… that is brotherhood.
- Lucas and Reid making up was what I needed.
- Yancy telling Davis that he’s out – Davis is a slimy lil s*** for betraying him when he never betrayed Davis
- That sex scene between Ellie and Davis was hot and DAMN
- Yancy is filled with smooth lines
- The shower scene with PJ had me in tears. It was heartbreaking. But also showed what a POS Davis is
- I’m most scared of loosing you – smooth Yancy
It was the ending of this episode that had us on the edge of our seat. Whose door is Quinn at?
