Madeline Petsch is a different breed of Hollywood actress. She knows where she’s come from, the roles that she’s taken, and the reasons why. She’s not afraid to stand up for herself and she’s not afraid to be honest. She’s calming and she’s poised. She wants to make a difference. There is no part of her that isn’t open to taking risks.
And it shows in the best way.
I’m a fangirl at heart and Riverdale is definitely a fandom that most of us have enjoyed. It was wild and it was crazy. It was a good time. So many of us know Petsch from there, but a lot of us have taken our love for the actress that she is to watch her in other things. We’ve followed her career.
And will continue to.
Sitting down to talk to her for Maintenance Required, I was nervous. I was placed over into a zoom with her, I legitimately could not think. My palms got sweaty. My heart started speeding. I felt sick. Interviews scare me, and I am anything but succinct. But because I am a fangirl. Petsch has been a part of many memories through her roles. They’ve been playing in the background for so many moments in my life.
And then – here we are – with Petsch making perfect sense to me. I asked her about the message that she would want girls to take away from this movie. You see Charlie is a mechanic and you don’t see a lot of women doing that job. Petsch replied, “I really love Charlie and I think she is very different for me, but also very similar to me. It’s very it was interesting to play somebody that felt the closest to me out of anybody ever played before.”
She continued, “I am a really big proponent and trying everything. I think I’ve always done like that. I think you could only fail if you don’t try.”
And then ended the answer with, “I would say the most important thing to women in general and to people, but especially to women, is like if you’re if you have like one percent of wanting to do something or you’re scared to do something – you should absolutely do it.”
She went on to say that, “Thankfully I’ve learned to like conquer that and like make that turn into like I wanna do it. I think nerves in terms of career or in terms of like things that are good for you. Only because you’re scared and if you can just try to push that aside and really just push through it – most of the time that’s probably the most rewarding thing you’re gonna do.”
