Lizzie and Lyra review 9-1-1 Season 9 Episode 3 “The Sky is Falling” and talk about how it balanced character moments better than the previous episode, while still dropping little hints about what every individual storyline will be going forward. Which… is basically what we want for the 118. Balance.
While Hen and Athena were trying to figure out how to make it out alive in space with the help of Karen, Maddie, and 9-1-1: Nashville (???), the on the ground emergency was kind of great. The woman pinned in the subway system gave Chimney and Eddie subtle moments that explored how they’re handling the loss of Bobby Nash.
Chimney for one is trying his best to make the decisions and be in control. And it feels like he’s doing this to honor Bobby and so everyone can get home. Bobby didn’t. But Chimney will make the hard decisions so everyone can. And Eddie, well he’s is being a little reckless and pushing because he wants it to be known he’s here. He’ll take the risk. Make the hard decisions. Because he wasn’t there before for Bobby. Now he will. For his team.
Then there’s Harry, May, and Buck. Harry is clearly taking steps forward to entering the academy with the way he helped that husband. And Buck is giving big brother while also making us question, “Did no one think that crushed woman and all the torrential water would trigger Buck?” May of course is doing the most as well, especially when that woman put the alert out that the firehouse had help… even though it was one young woman and two kids. Thankfully May is May.
