Update (12-12-25): Devil May Cry Season 2 has a premiere date! According to Netflix, our favorite disaster Dante is returning for more May 12, 2026.
Season 2 will see a war between worlds as Dante must battle the only force that mirrors his own: his estranged twin brother Vergil. And in an extra tease, Netflix also dropped a new image for the upcoming season that features Vergil and Dante in a locket with a portrait of their mother.

Netflix’s Devil May Cry only premiered season 1 on April 3, 2025 and it’s already gotten a season 2 renewal according to Netflix. Based on the science fantasy action-adventure game franchise created by Hideki Kamiya, Devil May Cry tells the story of a devilishly handsome demon hunter named Dante who is the world’s best hope for salvation. The latest Netflix anime adaptation from showrunner Adi Shankar sees Dante battling a mysterious villain named the White Rabbit.
Season 1 of Devil May Cry has a 96% on Rotten Tomatoes as of April 11th. Critics said the show had “real strokes of genius in the action, humor, and themes present in the narrative.” Others also said that the show “chooses to use some of the best aspects of the story to provide its own kind of experience, truly highlighting what makes it so special.” And Season 1 debuted at #4 on the global top 10 list with 5.3M views in just three days and reached the top 10 in 87 countries.

Here’s a preview below:
“Having zero knowledge of Devil May Cry, I had a great time with Netflix’s new anime of the video game franchise without feeling like I was missing out on key information. That right there is rare when it comes to adaptations. Either they give you little information, assuming that you know the entire franchise and you’re left in the dust if you don’t. Or they pile on tons of exposition to the point where the story gets drowned in it. Devil May Cry did neither of those things. In fact, I feel like it did what One Piece did when the live-action premiered. It acted like this was a new entry into the franchise while also honoring OG fans and trusting its audience.”
