Ted Lasso is coming back sooner than later. Apple TV has announced the sports comedy series will return with its fourth season in summer 2026. That release window isn’t particularly specific, but there have been hints about when the show will return. Apple TV announced Season 4 in March 2025. That announcement shared that Ted would return to Richmond, “taking on his biggest challenge yet: coaching a second division women’s football team. Throughout the course of the season, Ted and the team learn to leap before they look, taking chances they never thought they would,” per its synopsis.
In July, Ted Lasso started production on its highly anticipated return. The lone sneak peek photo confirmed that Jeremy Swift, Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, and Jason Sudeikis would reprise their respective roles. Otherwise, the streamer hasn’t shared who will return for Ted Lasso Season 4.
Deadline confirmed that Brendan Hunt and Brett Goldstein would return as Coach Beard and Roy Kent, respectively. The outlet also announced the additions of Grant Feely, Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, and Abbie Hern.
Now, not only has Apple TV has confirmed some of those cast members, but it has also given a major hint about when Ted Lasso will come back. We break down all the details below!

When Is Ted Lasso Coming Back?
Summer 2026 could mean a lot of things. It could mean Ted Lasso will be back on our TVs any time between June and the end of August. Therefore, it may be a while before Apple TV announces any more specifics. Luckily, Jason Sudeikis may have revealed them last June while appearing on the Men In Blazers show with Brendan Hunt to talk all things World Cup 2026.
Sudeikis didn’t share much about Season 4 – not nearly as much as he did on New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce. There, Sudeikis announced that Ted would be coaching a women’s team. However, Sudeikis did tell Roger Bennett, “If everything turns out the way we’d hope it would, the next season of Ted Lasso will follow World Cup mania. So, we’ll get asked to go to a lot of things in promotion of the show.”
If that’s the case, then there’s a great chance that Ted Lasso could come back in July, as the World Cup 2026 Final is on Sunday, July 19. Of course, none of this has been confirmed, but it’s starting to look increasingly possible. Not to mention, it does seem like the perfect opportunity to get people excited about the show again.

Going Back to Richmond
Regardless, these new photos have us excited about what’s to come. Is it really Ted Lasso if Ted isn’t giving Rebecca a pink biscuit box – in front of a Richmond jet? They need a happier scene by a plane after the Season 3 finale. Could this be the scene that Channing Dungey, Chairman and CEO, Warner Bros. Television Group and US Networks, told Variety about in August 2025? When discussing Ted Lasso’s dailies, Dungey said:
“I’m telling you, it is amazing when you actually feel emotional in watching dailies. There’s a scene that takes place at an airfield. You’ll see it, it’s in the first episode. And I’m telling you that everybody in watching those dailies was tearing up. I think it’s because it just feels so good to be back in the saddle with these characters.”
While that’s all speculation, these new photos confirm that Annette Badland is back at the Crown & Anchor pub as Mae Green. It also appears that Deadline’s report about Grant Feely replacing Gus Turner as Ted and Michelle’s son, Henry, is true. It’s difficult to really see, but it looks like Henry may be wearing a school jumper. Is it possible that Henry is attending school in the UK, having moved with his dad this time?
Meanwhile, there’s also a sneak peek at, presumably, the beginnings of that second division women’s football team. The photos seem to suggest that Tanya Reynolds is playing Ted’s new assistant coach. Another photo raises questions about Beard’s involvement. The end of the third season suggests that Beard will stay on the coaching staff for the men’s side with Nate, with Roy being the Manager. Does Beard rejoin Ted upon his return? These are all questions that we will hopefully have answers to when Ted Lasso finally returns this summer.
