We’re getting another book adaptation in the vertical world, and we’re pretty excited about it. Why? It stars two of our favorites, John Jamieson Michaels and Gabrielle Faith Brown. Have we read the book? Have to admit, no. But will we watch? You know we will.
Gabrielle Faith Brown is an actress, model, and acclaimed rising star in vertical drama/short-form content known for roles in The Daughter of Zeus (2026), Miss Perfect and Her Monster, and we believe My Dark Romeo will be something she’s known for too. You can follow her on Instagram here.
John Jamieson Michaels was raised with Southern roots, strong faith, and a deep love for sport and the outdoors. A natural athlete and competitor, he grew up playing football, baseball, and tennis – disciplines that shaped his work ethic, resilience, and drive. We loved him in Stop Bullying His Girl: The Boxer King Returns!, Revenge for the Truth in Her Diary, and Uncle William, Please Say I Do.
WHAT IT IS ABOUT
Inspired by the novel by L.J. Shen and Parker S. Huntington, the adaptation, “This dark romance mini-series follows Dallas, who is forced to marry the cruel, wealthy Romeo after a scandal, leading to a tumultuous relationship involving intense hatred and forced proximity.”
BOOK SYNOPSIS
The book was originally published on March 12, 2023. Synopsis below –
My fairy tale turned into a cautionary one.
Inked in tar and sealed in tears.
It was supposed to be a harmless kiss at a lavish debutante ball.
A clandestine moment with a handsome stranger.
But unlike his namesake, my Romeo isn’t driven by love.
He’s fueled by revenge.
To him, I’m a chess piece. Leverage.
His rival’s betrothed.
To me, he is a man deserving of poison.
A dark prince I refuse to marry.
He thinks I’ll accept my fate.
Well, I plan to rewrite it.
And in my story, Juliet doesn’t die.
But Romeo? He perishes.
