Where will the LA Waves do now that they’re Champions? Luckily, we will get to find out because Running Point has been renewed for a third season on Netflix. The Kate Hudson-led comedy will continue its production in Los Angeles. After pulling impressive numbers in its first season, Netflix shares that its second season “brought Season 1 back onto the chart, with the show surpassing 60M views across both seasons.”
This renewal comes less than a month after Running Point dropped its 10-episode sophomore season. It saw the Isla Gordon and the LA Waves grapple with new changes, like Cam’s (Justin Theroux) return and a sea of financial issues. Meanwhile, Isla’s personal life takes a tumultuous turn as she finally calls off her engagement and relationship with Lev (Max Greenfield). She also tried to make a relationship work with basketball coach, Jay (Jay Ellis). There is also a flirtation between Isla and a family rival, Luke (Scott Speedman).

All the while, the Waves were competing to win the whole thing, which would also prove that Isla Gordon is more than capable of doing her job, not Cam. The season ends with the Waves winning the Championship, but it looks like that ring could come with the end of Marcus Winfield’s (Toby Sandeman) career. The team’s star player had a season plagued with injuries, and the last one looks to be of the career-ending variety. Meanwhile, Ness (Scott MacArthur), Ali (Brenda Song), and Jackie (Frabrizio Guido) are looking ahead to a recruitment trip.
The biggest bombshell, though, is that Cam has created a new team to rival Isla and the Waves, and he brought Jay on as the coach. So, it’s safe to say there is plenty for Running Point Season 3 to explore.
Running Point also stars Chet Hanks and Uche Agada. Mindy Kaling, David Stassen, and Ike Barinholtz are writers and executive producers. Stassen is the showrunner. Kate Hudson, Howard Klein, Jeanie Buss, and Linda Rambis are also executive producers. Running Point is produced by Kaling International in association with Warner Bros. Television, where Kaling is under an overall deal.
