Leave it to Outlander to find a new way to make us emotional. As part of this year’s World Outlander Day celebrations, fans from 40 countries traveled to Scotland for the sold-out world premiere of Outlander in Concert: Echoes Through the Highlands at Edinburgh’s Usher Hall. The event took place on May 30 and brought together cast members, producers, creatives, and fans for what looked like a pretty unforgettable night. We’ve also got photos from the premiere and the trailer for the concert experience below.
What Is Outlander in Concert: Echoes Through the Highlands About?
If you’ve ever listened to Bear McCreary’s score and immediately been transported back to a specific Outlander moment, this concert was basically built for you.
The production combines footage from all eight seasons of the series with live music performed on stage by a 17-piece ensemble. Alongside traditional orchestral instruments, the musicians use bagpipes, fiddle, harp, whistles, bodhrán, hurdy-gurdy, and acoustic guitar—the sounds that became such a huge part of Outlander’s identity over the years.
The guest list for the premiere included Sam Heughan and John Bell. But also STARZ’s Outlander: Blood of My Blood stars Harriet Slater and Jamie Roy, executive producers Matthew B. Roberts and Maril Davis, and several members of the creative team behind the franchise.
From everything we’ve seen so far, the evening wasn’t focused only on Jamie and Claire. The concert revisits moments from across the series and highlights characters and storylines that helped shape the world of Outlander.
The venue itself was transformed with visual elements inspired by the show, including references to Craigh na Dun and other familiar imagery that we’re all recognize.
The Scottish premiere may be over, but this is only the beginning. The tour officially launches in Brooklyn on September 26 before heading to dozens of cities across North America. European dates are scheduled to begin in February 2027.
Honestly, there is something fitting about celebrating Outlander through its music. Long before a scene breaks our hearts, the score usually gets there first. This concert feels like a chance to revisit that journey from a completely different perspective.
