The Other Bennet Sister Season 1 just ended and already we’re begging for more. And it seems like production studio Bad Wolf has listened!
Bad Wolf announced that The Other Bennet Sister is returning for a three-part Christmas special. Sarah Quintrell, who wrote nine of the ten episodes of the series, is returning to write all three episodes based on storylines by author Janice Hadlow, who wrote the original book. Asim Abbasi, who directed five episodes of the series, will also be returning to direct.

The special will be shot primarily in Wales this summer and will see the return of Ella Bruccoleri as Mary. A host of other familiar faces from the series are set to return. And we’re really hoping that it’s smooth sailing for Mary and Tom at least. Because if there’s anything that Mary deserves, it’s peace and light Christmas drama after the events of Season 1. We’re also hoping for more of the iconic Indira Varma as Mrs. Gardiner and of course Dónal Finn as Mr. Tom Hayward.
According to BritBox, The Other Bennet Sister delivered record-breaking numbers in the US and Canada. And in the UK, over 7 million viewers watched the series in the first 28 days. Jane Tranter, CEO of Bad Wolf said, “We always hoped audiences would fall in love with Mary Bennet’s story, but the response to The Other Bennet Sister has exceeded even our most optimistic expectations.”
When it comes to the Christmas specials she teased what’s to come. “These Christmas specials give us the chance to spend a little more time with characters audiences have taken to their hearts, and to explore what happens after the wedding bells fade and real life begins. Returning to the world of Mary Bennet with our brilliant partners at the BBC and BritBox feels like the perfect way to celebrate the success of the series and give viewers a treat this Christmas.”
So it might not be a Season 2 renewal, but we’re excited to see more!
