My mother used to tell me that having a sister meant having a built-in best friend. She knows your strengths, your weaknesses, and your secrets. Your sister is the person that you can count on.
In Voicemails for Isabelle, Jill and Isabelle are the closest of sisters. Isabelle has a terminal illness, and Jill makes sure that her sister doesn’t miss out on anything. The two have epic dance parties, share secrets, and are each other’s best friends.
When Isabelle passes, Jill is destroyed. She misses her sister and their conversations. In order to feel close to her sister, she dials her number and leaves voicemails. She doesn’t know that the voicemails are being listened to by the new owner of the number, Wes.
While you would think that Voicemails for Isabelle is romance, at its core, it is a story about sisters and their bonds. We spoke with star Ciara Bravo about her role in the film and what she learned about herself from doing the film.
We talked about her relationship with her siblings and how that inspired her portrayal of Isabelle in the movie.
