A place full of secrets and legends? A werewolf alpha and a bloodthirsty war? Just take our money now! It seems that, after the end of Outlander, we already have a replacement to be our next obsession. We’re talking about The Wolf King, the bestselling romantasy book series by Lauren Palphreyman that STARZ will adapt into a series.
The best part? The network also acquired the rights to The Night Prince and the upcoming release The Wolf Queen, so they’ll be able to adapt the entire trilogy. Here’s everything we know about The Wolf King!
What is The Wolf King About?
The Wolf King tells the story of Princess Aurora, the daughter of the King of the mortal realm, is betrothed to Sebastian, a cruel man ruling the borderlands. Aurora has been treated like a doll her entire life, always seen but never heard. On the eve of her wedding night, Aurora saves the life of a young wolf, Ryan, when Sebastian pits him against an alpha wolf—Callum—in his fighting rings.
Later, the alpha Callum escapes and kidnaps Aurora. His plan is to present her to the Wolf King and ransom her back to Sebastian in exchange for the Heart of the Moon.
Aurora finds herself among her enemy species, wolves who hate her kind for what humans have done to them.
She begins spending time with Callum and another mysterious and cunning alpha, Blake. The headstrong princess tries to earn her freedom in the Northlands while finding herself falling for the alpha of a werewolf clan, fighting a forbidden attraction and becoming entangled in a much darker plot.

The Cast and Crew:
The Wolf King will reunite STARZ again with Tanya Saracho after being the creator, showrunner, and executive producer of the critically-acclaimed series Vida. In this new show, Saracha is tapped to serve as showrunner and executive producer and Palphreyman will be an executive producer.
In Saracha words, “coming back home to STARZ with The Wolf King is a full-circle moment for me. This book has been my obsession since I first found it as an indie release over a year ago, and I’ve been lovingly championing it ever since.
While Lauren Palphreyman’s beautiful book series is an exciting departure from the genre I’m typically known for, getting to adapt it for the network that housed Vida for three seasons just feels destined to be. I couldn’t be more ecstatic to finally share my love for this story with the world!”
And, considering the great job Saracha did with Vida, among other things, making sure to have a diverse cast and crew, we have high hopes for her in this new adventure. And we’re not the only ones.
“With the rich world Lauren Palphreyman has created in The Wolf King and our longstanding relationship with Tanya — whose instinct for sexy, nuanced storytelling is unmatched — we’re excited to bring this saga to screen with all the heat and heart it deserves,” said Kathryn Busby, President of Original Programming for STARZ.
The Plot:
According to the synopsis, The Wolf King, “will see Aurora, after being abducted from a world that treated her as a decorative pawn, uncovering her own wild strength in this sweeping romantasy. Ensnared in a lethal love triangle, she is thrust into a war between humankind and her feral captors, forcing her to decide whether she’s a prize to be claimed or the master of her own destiny.”
