The Rose Hill series is officially in the filming stage of production, and even though we don’t have the full cast yet, fans are very happy with what they’ve seen. Now the big question is: Are they gonna combine Book 1 and Book 2 into one season? And, if so, how?
We still don’t know the answer, but we can suspect they found a way to do it, since Skylar Stone makes her first physical appearance in Wild Eyes but was already cast for Season 1. And that’s not the only question fans had going into the adaptation. Because there was also the matter of the beloved Chestnut Springs character Willa Grant, and whether we would see her in this show.
Sadly, author and executive producer Elsie Silver has already confirmed that the two series in the TV world are gonna be different universes, and we won’t see the sibling bond between Ford and Willa. Allow us a moment to mourn.
We know that any TV adaptation will make some changes from the books. But there are certain moments and details fans are hoping make it from the page to the screen. Here are 5 things we wanna see in the Rose Hill TV adaptation!
The Rose Hill family moments
One of the things that makes the Rose Hill series so special is that the stories aren’t just about the couples, but about the entire family and friend group. From casual hangouts and family dinners to everyone showing up for each other during the harder moments, these little interactions make Rose Hill feel like a real community.
Cora didn’t ask for everyone to be there for her, yet everyone decided she was gonna be their priority. Fans want to see that warmth and chaos on screen because it’s such a huge part of what makes the series feel like home.
Ford and Rosie’s banter
One of the most beloved parts of Wild Love is Ford and Rosie’s effortless banter. Their witty back-and-forth, years of history, and undeniable chemistry are what make so many readers fall in love with them. There are countless scenes of them bickering, and we really hope they translate to screen well. Seeing their dynamic is definitely something fans are looking forward to.
The dock flashbacks in Wild Love and the Diary
The dock flashbacks are some of the most important moments in Ford and Rosie’s story. They give us a look into their history and help explain why their connection has always been so strong. And not only in the flashbacks, but present-day dock conversations between them are also so important and special.
And of course, the iconic diary that Ford has been keeping for years, waiting to return it to Rosie. The scenes after he gives her the diary and she tears a page each day and leaves them at his desk so he can read and see that so many entries were about him. These moments are especially important because they show us the relationship they had before, so seeing them recreated on screen would be a must for fans.
Dad bowling scenes
One of the funnier scenes in the series is Thursday night bowling with the dads. Watching Ford, West, and the rest of the group compete adds a level of humor to the books. It would be the perfect way to show the friendships between the main characters.
Skylar’s relationship with Weston’s kids and Rosie’s relationship with Cora
The relationships the kids have with their parents are very loving, but the ones they have with the female main characters are also extremely loving. Rosie and Cora form a deep bond because they both understand what it feels like to be vulnerable. Taking care of Cora gives Rosie a renewed sense of purpose, and Rosie helps Cora find herself taking on a maternal role without overstepping and trying to erase Cora’s mother.
Ollie, the more timid one between the Belmont kids, is very selective about who he likes, and the way he slowly starts letting Skylar in is very beautiful. Emmy, on the other hand, immediately lets Skylar inside and is the one who initially wants her in their life. Coming from a difficult childhood, living with West’s children allows Skylar to experience selfless, protective family love for the first time. These relationships add so much emotional depth to both of their stories and are a huge part of why fans are so attached to these characters.
