We watch a lot of TV and movies! So yeah, we’re fangirling over a lot of things! Each week we come together to highlight all the feels they give us throughout the week. On these Fangirlish Feels of the Week, there are five categories and many thoughts! Ready?

Best Scene of the Week
Raquel: I just finished watching Outer Banks and, although I’ll never forgive them for losing JJ, the Jarah wedding was the best thing in the world!
Rachel: Since this “Feels” covers two weeks, I’m going with the scene in the first episode of Lanterns where Hal Jordan exposes an alien hiding as a human while interrogating him. It’s fun that Hal pokes holes in the alien’s cover with general pop culture knowledge, but the kicker is when politics enters the conversation. The guy is from Nebraska and has no opinion on Obama. That’s all the proof Hal needs, especially since this scene is taking place in 2016. And Kyle Chandler as Hal is excellent throughout. Well done, Lanterns, well done.
Ashley W.: The scene in Lanterns episode 1×02 when Hal Jordan is recharging his ring is so amusing while adding crucial context for the story. It’s weird to think of the Green Lantern oath being something that isn’t recited with a serious demeanor and purpose, which is why it was so funny to watch Hal recite it with a tedious swiftness. But, when you think about it, given how long he’s been a Green Lantern, it makes complete sense that having to say the oath over and over again for years get tiring.
Ship of the Week
Raquel: Jarah for life!
Shana: I started watching Fringe, so: Walter and food. (Or, if you want a more “traditional” ship choice, Peter and Olivia. Take your pick.)
Rachel: This seems like it won’t go anywhere, because there was THAT twist ending to the first episode and she’s technically married, but right now, I’ll say I like Hal and Kerry on Lanterns. They are zinging with each other. I can feel the chemistry, and Chandler and Kelly Macdonald are such appealing actors anyway. The second episode provided a good laugh when he thought she was calling him “honey.” And then she later stayed at his bedside when he was shot, too! Also, Hal seemed a little too interested when she mentioned trouble in her marriage. “Your marriage is unsmooth?” he can’t help but ask. I’m keeping my eye on this.
Best Performance of the Week
Raquel: Madison Bailey in that scene with Groff. In Netflix’s Outer Banks series finale made me feel everything: the struggle, the justice, the revenge…and the satisfaction.
Shana: The top 4 from Drag Race France Season 4 put on a show. Whole finale. A+.
Ashley W.: I really enjoyed Sunny Sandler’s and Melanie Lynskey’s performances as the mother-daughter duo in Don’t Say Good Luck. They had great chemistry, worked well off each other, and really delivered the intense emotion required of the narrative.
Moment that Annoyed Us This Week
Shana: Drag Race México: Latina Royale has been such a mess. I was so excited to see this cast do their thing and don’t even care that it’s unofficially México vs. The World, especially considering the group from Drag Race México that’s there! But y’all. What the FFFFFFFFF is happening????
Let me get this straight: After putting Mariana Stars in the bottom four weeks in a row, the judges used their one-time Lotería Twist to save her in Episode 4 when someone (Xunami Muse) finally pulled her lipstick. I’m not even sure I agree that she should’ve been a bottom that week either, particularly when you’ve got folks with parts falling off their looks. But sure. Subjective. Whatever. So, anyway, that save was already a confusing, weird, annoying “what are we doing here” situation. Either don’t put her in the bottom all four times—especially since, arguably, she deserved some but not all of those bottoms—or don’t pull the save. It made no sense and is unfair to her and everyone else there.
But ok. Week 5. Here we go. Snatch Game! There are easily two queens who did terribly. Mariana was mid, as were a few others. The winners, at least, were correct—and it wasn’t even close. So, the judges (eh, production) randomly decided all four bottom queens were up for elimination instead of the usual two. What was the reason? Especially to turn around and, once again, keep Mariana around for the sake of drama and trying to break her and/or others.
And the crazy thing is, the queen who got sent home was legitimately the worst in the challenge, had already tacitly implied she’d send Matraka home (by not denying when directly asked) after she sent DesiRée Beck home, and therefore shouldn’t have been a surprise…but because of whatever this game is with Mariana Stars, it is a surprise…and ended the episode with the winner, who’s been slaying for five weeks, and who played the game, looking miserable. ANNOYING. I can’t even be mad Miss Abby OMG reacted how she did, not really. But…why. Just why. All of it. WHY.
This isn’t the type of drama I signed up for, actually…and I can’t believe y’all have me out here feeling like I need to defend Mariana Stars this hard either. The edit on her season of Drag Race España didn’t do her a lot of favors with me!
Rachel: They’re making a Hooters movie? REALLY???? *rolls eyes*
Ashley W.: I get that the love story between Ry and Julián is central to the plot in The Last Sunrise, but I felt like his input regarding how to treat Ry’s condition was given too much weight and value in comparison to Ry’s mom, who was the person actually responsible for the decision. I don’t mind that he offered his input. I just would’ve liked it more if it played out in a way where she makes the tough choice and gets support from Julián. Because it felt more like Ry’s mom being convinced by him what to do. She was far from a perfect mother, but it made her role as a mother and caretaker feel a bit pushed aside and overlooked for the sake of Julián deciding to “save” Ry.
Lizzie: Still so annoyed at everything that happened in Season 5 of Outer Banks. I feel like the show lost its way in Season 4 and never found its groove now. We barely got anyone other than Kiara reacting to JJ’s nonsensical death, Pope and Cleo were and afterthought and Rafe’s redemption arc was half-baked. Such a disappointment.
Raquel: Everything Lizzie said. And I’ll add that they should have recast JJ.
