Outlander: Blood of My Blood is getting closer and closer! And can’t wait for the new episodes. We love everything we’ve seen so far from this new season, and we’re SURE it will be even better than Season 1. However, that confidence comes with a touch of apprehension. So, here are five things we don’t want to see in Blood of My Blood Season 2.
Henry and Julia Stuck in Another Separation
In Season 1, we watched Henry and Julia fight to find their way back to each other while navigating the dangers of 18th-century Scotland—and they finally succeeded. Yet, by the end, they were standing at the stones, ready to return to their own time alongside Claire, with their enemies hot on their heels. From the trailer, we know they get separated again: Henry makes it through the stones, but Julia doesn’t. Naturally, we worry that Season 2 might repeat the Season 1 formula regarding this couple. We’ve already seen them apart and lived through their struggle to reunite. Not again.
Romance That Feels Disconnected From the Plot
The chemistry between the leads is one of the show’s greatest strengths. While we’re sure there will be plenty of romance this season, we want more than just that. We need those moments to drive character development rather than serving as filler—especially now that political intrigue is set to take center stage. That said, the show handled this brilliantly in Season 1, so we’re confident they’ll keep it up in the new batch of episodes.
Contradictions With Outlander Canon
Let’s be realistic: we scrutinize every detail of Blood of My Blood. Since we already know the fates of many characters thanks to Outlander, the prequel has to tread very carefully. Season 1 established excellent narrative threads that connect directly to the original series—such as Claire’s brother—and we don’t want to see anything in Season 2 that ends up making no sense in the context of what we saw in Outlander. Speaking of which, we’re keeping our fingers crossed that the prequel doesn’t alter the essence of key characters like Murtagh, Dougal, or Colum MacKenzie.
One Timeline Overshadowing the Other
Structuring a story split in two is a massive challenge. The show overcame this hurdle in Season 1, but—to be honest—one storyline (Henry and Julia’s) felt a bit more… calm than the one unfolding in Scotland with Brian and Ellen. Sometimes too calm. Now that we know Henry manages to travel through the stones, we worry that one of the two timelines might feel dull or less significant, disrupting the season’s pacing. After all, telling a story that spans 1714 Scotland and early 20th-century is no easy feat.
Flat and Predictable Villains
Outlander has always featured terrifying villains—like Black Jack Randall. While Blood of My Blood has a perfect counterpart in Simon Fraser, the war and clan conflicts will undoubtedly introduce different types of villains. We need them to be like Simon Fraser or Jack Randall: dark and complex. The last thing we want to see are flat villains acting out of malice without any deep-seated motivations. The obstacles facing Brian, Ellen, Henry, and Julia need to feel genuinely threatening.

Not keen on the many shocks treatments Henry gets, its brutal to witness. His acting is impeccable and we feel his pain with him. Two treatments shown would have been plenty…watching all was masochistic
