Grey’s Anatomy Season 23, Episode 1, “Collide,” unveils a new asset at Grey Sloan Memorial at the same time that a plane crash causes chaos. Fans of this show, myself included, will be a little apprehensive about another plane crash around these characters. I know I still haven’t recovered from the one that resulted in the hospital getting its name. Regardless, the team faces a wave of new patients, including one of the pilots of the two planes that collided at Sea-Tac.
Before everyone races to save lives, they will be attending Catherine Avery’s ribbon-cutting ceremony of Grey Sloan’s new VIP floor. It does look nice up there! That’s also when Grey’s Anatomy will introduce a new character played by James Wolk: Dr. Seth Norton. He seems particularly interested in bringing Meredith’s expertise to that new floor of the hospital.
Amid all of that, as the season’s trailer reveals, the characters are dealing with personal and professional changes. Miranda is going back to school to get her master’s degree in public health. Ben notices Jules and Winston coming out of an on-call room together. Resident/intern relationships are no stranger to Grey’s Anatomy, which is why Ben can give the evergreen advice of “Come clean and get ahead of it.” On a similar note, Amelia is honest about her mistake of sleeping with Cass. The trailer doesn’t explicitly reveal that Amelia tells Toni this. I kind of hope that they clear the air as soon as possible. Then again, what’s Grey’s Anatomy without a who lot of drama and tension and romance?
