This week’s Boston Blue was a little less powerful than last week‘s episode, but it still dealt with two scary things: Sharks. And HR. Poor Danny and Lena. Sarah was also put through the ringer in “Everything Right Can Still Be Wrong” after learning that she put an innocent man behind bars and the real guilty party was still out there. It was a difficult situation for everyone, and we have so many thoughts, including how the entire justice system failed the victim.

Traumatized by Sharks

Lena and Danny’s case in “Everything Right Can Still Be Wrong” focused on finding how Steve died, who killed him, and why. Honestly? It was a little underwhelming after last week’s amazing episode. We just weren’t that invested in the characters. And we’re with Lena: we hate sharks. Didn’t Jaws traumatize us all? We also really could have done without seeing the shark cut open and Steve’s bone falling out. It was disturbing. The best part about the case was Lena jumping onto the boat from the dock and fighting Dylan. And the end of the case was satisfying: they caught the murderer, and Wave and Steve’s wife found a way to make peace and can hopefully can co-exist moving forward.
Anyway, we hope that we never deal with another case involving sharks. Eww.
Our favorite part about Lena and Danny in “But Everything Right Can Still Be Wrong” didn’t have anything to do with the case either. It was about Danny figuring out his new role as Lena’s boss. Yes, he’s still her partner, but after meeting with HR, he has some complicated feelings about his partnership. Honestly, we get it. Work relationships and friendships can always be messy. But in this case, we don’t think Danny has anything to worry about. Danny and Lena can still be partners and friends. HR doesn’t need to mess with something that’s great. And if HR does break them up, then we’re going to riot.
Righting Wrongs

While Danny and Lena were dealing with sharks and new relationship dynamics, Sarah tried to fix a mistake she made in an old case.
We appreciate Sarah owning her part in the wrong man going to prison. Yes, she had proof that this man was guilty, but, at the end of the day, an innocent man spent 10 years behind bars and missed out on his daughter’s childhood. Sarah didn’t make excuses; she just tried to find the man who did rape Jessica. And she succeeded. We hope that the actual rapist spends the rest of his life being miserable in prison. And we hope that Jessica, and Dane, can find peace now.
Dane just wanted Sarah to promise that this would never happen again. We want to know how it happened in the first place. Not with Sarah. But how did the prosecutor, the judge, the entire system fail? They all came to same conclusion that Sarah did, and that is unacceptable. We hope now that Sarah is the superintendent, she can help lead better investigations so that this doesn’t happen again. And with how determined she was at the end of the episode, we have every reason to believe she’s going to keep her promise to Dane.
Other Thoughts:

- We know Sean and Jonah weren’t happy with dealing with the two bickering ladies. They would rather be solving crimes. But they did end up getting a bad guy off the street, and they helped save these ladies’ friendship. Isn’t part of being a cop helping people? You should want to help make people’s lives better.
- Sean and Jonah also got free clam chowder from the ladies. Of course, it was to settle whose was better, but still. Free food. We have a feeling that Sean and Jonah haven’t heard the last from these two ladies. But there could definitely be worse ways to spend a day at work.
- “There are only two letters I hate more than IA and that is HR.”
- “I just wanted to show Wave that I loved her.” “I don’t know that is Dylan, but it is not love.”
- “I am so sorry, Jessica.” “Don’t. You were so compassionate back then. And you worked so hard to find the man who hurt me. And you did it again. So, thank you.”
- “You faced your fear of water. And dare I say it, you jumped the shark.”
