Forget summer heat; winter is here! Season 7 of Game of Thrones premieres this Sunday on HBO, and here are some of the things we’re looking forward to this season:
1. A Stark Family Reunion
The reunion of Jon and Sansa was one of the most tender moments of last season, and maybe even of the whole series. Now that Arya is back in Westeros, and Bran is back south of the Wall, will we have to wait long to see all of the Starks together again?
2. A Targaryen family meeting
Last season, we learned that Jon is actually Daenerys’ nephew. What will happen when these two meet?
3. DRAGONS IN BATTLE!
Need we say more?
4. Yara Greyjoy meeting the Sand Snakes
Four fierce women, all allied with the Mother of Dragons. Cersei’s Kingsguard won’t know what hit ‘em.
5. The return of long-missing characters
We haven’t seen Gendry Waters, the bastard son of Robert Baratheon, since Season 3 when he escaped from Dragonstone. He’s the last of the Baratheons and may have a role to play in the battle for Westeros.
It’s been even longer since we’ve seen Arya’s direwolf Nymeria, driven off in Season 1 to save her life. It would be fitting to have the Stark mascot return.
6. Sansa and Tyrion meeting again
Technically, these two are still married. And they’ve both grown, suffered and changed in the years since they’ve seen each other. Could they have grown into a marriage of equals?
7. Cersei getting her due
Jaime came home in time to see Cersei get crowned, after the death of their last child. Once he knows that Cersei destroyed the Great Sept, leading to Tommen’s suicide, will Jaime add Queenslayer to his list of titles?
What are you looking forward to seeing in Season 7?
