Freeform‘s New Warriors, the latest Marvel property heading to TV has unveiled their cast and we gotta say – we’re now even more excited to see this!
THR reports that This Is Us actress Milana Vayntrub has landed the coveted role of Squirrel Girl. Opposite her, Derek Theler, from Baby Daddy will play the role of Mister Immortal.
The rest of the announced cast consists of Jeremy Tardy as Night Thrasher, Calum Worthy as Speedball, Matthew Moy as Microbe, and Kate Comer as Debrii.
Kevin Biegel, the showrunner, had this to say about the casting: “I am thrilled beyond belief to be working with this incredible group of actors. They are funny, sincere, eager, charming and perfectly embody these characters. It’ll be a blast and an honor to create this show with each of them.”
New Warriors has already been picked up for a 10 episode first season at Freeform. It’s slated to follow the characters as they cope with the challenges of growing up while having these abilities – aka, drama + superpowers.
It’s like those two always go together.
This will be Marvel‘s first live-action scripted comedy. No premiere date has yet been announced.
